Sami, Gujarat
Sami is a town in Sami Taluka of Patan district of Gujarat, India. History According to the tradition Sami takes its name from its founder, an ascetic of Atit or Sami order. It came under the power of the Nawab of Radhanpur around 1753; and at the beginning of the nineteenth century was his capital and headquarters. The great plague of 1816 carried off about one-half of its population. Sami was under Radhanpur state. Radhanpur was under Palanpur Agency of Bombay Presidency, which in 1925 became the Banas Kantha Agency. After Independence of India in 1947, Bombay Presidency was reorganized in Bombay State. When Gujarat state was formed in 1960 from Bombay State, it fell under Mehsana district of Gujarat and subsequently became part of Patan district. Mehsana Airport
Mehsana Airport is a civil aviation training base in Mehsana, Gujarat, India. It is used for non-scheduled operations. An abandoned airfield was developed by the Government of Gujarat and a private company, ''Ahmedabad Aviation and Aeronautics Ltd'' (AAA Ltd) on a public-private partnership basis in 2007, the first such partnership in Gujarat. The 64 acre airport was developed with the help of the Indian Air Force and DGCA and was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi. AAA Ltd used the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad prior to shifting its training activities to Mehsana Airport in 2007. The airport was at the centre of a dispute between its owners and the Mehsana Municipality, which closed access the facility twice in 2010 due to non-payment of taxes.
