Salepur
Salepur (also known as Salipur) is a town in the district of Cuttack, and the headquarters of the Salipur block. It is situated near the bank of holy river ''Chitrotpala'' mother of Ganga, 25 km from the city of Cuttack and 55 km from the state capital Bhubaneswar. Name's Relevance The name Salepur is primarily derived from the combination of two words viz. sali (Paddy) and Pur (Place). It is due to the reason that Salepur belt is one of the largest producers of Paddy in the State of Odisha because of its highly fertile soil. Transport By Road: Salepur is well connected to all the nearby cities and towns by roads. SH-9A connects it to NH-16 which connects to Kolkata and Chennai. Bikalananda Kar
Bikalananda Kar ()is an Indian confectioner from Salepur, Odisha and founder of "Kar & Brother" which is known for popularising the rasagola, an Indian desert. Kar laid the foundation of his shop in last of 1922. The rasagolas prepared by the descendants are considered the best rasagolas in Odisha. These rasagolas are famously named "Bikali Kar Rasagola" is sold all over Odisha and abroad. To revive traditional Odia sweet dishes, the Government of Odisha in collaboration with Jadavpur University has set up an Industrial Training Centre, B. K. Industrial Training Centre in Cuttack named after Bikalananda Kar. Rasgulla
Rasgulla, also known as rasagola, rosogola or rosogolla, is a syrupy dessert popular in the Bengal region of the Indian subcontinent. It is made from ball-shaped dumplings of chhena and semolina dough, cooked in light sugar syrup made of sugar. This is done until the syrup permeates the dumplings. The earliest evidence of rasagola can be found in the epic poem Dandi Ramayana which was composed by famous Odia poet Balarama Dasa in which he mentioned that rasagola is offered to Maa Laxmi by Lord Jagannath in a ritual called Niladri Bije. While it is near-universally agreed upon that the dessert originated in the eastern Indian subcontinent, the exact locus of origin is disputed between locations such as West Bengal, Bangladesh, and Odisha, where it is offered at the Puri Jagannath Temple. Cuttack
Cuttack (, or officially Kataka ) in Odia is the former capital and the second largest city in the Indian state of Odisha. It is the headquarters of the Cuttack district. The name of the city is an anglicised form of ''Kataka'' which literally means ''The Fort'', a reference to the ancient Barabati Fort around which the city initially developed. Rasaballi
Rasabali (, IAST: rasābaḷi) is a sweet dish from Odisha, India. Rasabali is offered to Baladevjew, and originated in the Baladevjew Temple of Kendrapara. It is one of the Chapana bhoga of Jagannath temple. It consists of deep fried flattened reddish brown patties of chhena (farmer cheese) that are soaked in thickened, sweetened milk ( rabri). Flattening the chhena into palm-sized patties is done in order to allow them to absorb the milk more readily. The thickened milk is also usually lightly seasoned with crushed cardamoms. Biju Patnaik International Airport is an international airport serving Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha. Chandabali
Chandabali (or Chandbali) is an old town in the Bhadrak district of Odisha on the bank of the River Baitarani. History Before the 19th century AD, Chandabali was a small fishing village, and a natural river port. In 1866, trading began from this port to Bengal and in 1881, it was declared a government port by the British government. This led to growth and development of a market for agricultural produce. In the 1910s, the United States Hydrographic Office noted that the opening of the Bengal-Nagpur Railway had drawn trade away from the port, and that the port was now considered to be simply part of the port of Dhamra. At the time, the port had between 22 and 30 feet of anchorage, in front of the town, with three landing piers, the water 10 feet deep at their ends. A steamer service ran four times per week between there and Calcutta. The town itself had a single police station, a customhouse and warehouse, and a traveler's bungalow.
