IJssel
The IJssel (; nds-nl, Iessel(t) ) is a Dutch distributary of the river Rhine that flows northward and ultimately discharges into the IJsselmeer (before the 1932 completion of the Afsluitdijk known as the Zuiderzee), a North Sea natural harbour. It more immediately flows into the east-south channel around the Flevopolder, Flevoland which is kept at 3 metres below sea level. This body of water is then pumped up into the IJsselmeer. It is sometimes called the Gelderse IJssel (; "Gueldern IJssel") to distinguish it from the Hollandse IJssel. It is in the provinces of Gelderland and Overijssel. The Romans knew the river as Isala. It flows from Westervoort, on the east side of the city of Arnhem. Similar to the Nederrijn which shares its short inflow, the Pannerdens Kanaal, it is a minor discharge of the Rhine. A sala ( sa, śāla, शाला (IAST: śālā), th, ศาลา ; km, សាលា ), also known as a Sala Thai, is an open pavilion, used as a meeting place and to give people shade. With etymological roots in the Sanskrit ''sala'', the word in Thai connotes buildings for specific purposes, such as ''sala klang'' ('provincial hall'). Most are open on all four sides. They are found throughout Thailand in Buddhist temple areas, or wats, although they can also be at other places. A person who builds a sala at a temple or in a public place gains religious merit. A sala located in a temple is called a ''salawat'' (ศาลาวัด). Some temples have large salas where laity can hear sermons or receive religious instruction. These are called ''sala kan parian'' (ศาลาการเปรียญ), meaning 'pavilion where monks learn for the Parian examination'. Sala or Salena was a town of ancient Lydia, and is a suppressed, vacant and titular see of the Roman Catholic Church. History The town of Sala is identifiable with Kepecik in today's west Turkey, but in antiquity was an ancient episcopal see of the Roman province of Lydia in Asia Minor. It was part of the Patriarchate of Constantinople during Byzantine times and was suffragan of the Archdiocese of Sardis. Sala is not mentioned by Michel Le Quien in his work ''Oriens Christianus'' but a bishop Stephen is recorded in the episcopal lists of the second Second Council of Nicaea. William Mitchell Ramsay in his ''The Historical Geography of Asia Minor'' (1890) claims that Le Quien's omission of Sala was due to his misreading the Greek records where he "invented" the bishopric of Helenopolis. Cabuyao, officially the City of Cabuyao ( fil, Lungsod ng Cabuyao), is a 1st class component city in the province of Laguna, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 355,330 people.
