Sacramento County () is a county located in the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census, the population was 1,585,055. Its county seat is Sacramento, which has been the state capital of California since 1854. Sacramento County is the central county of the Greater Sacramento metropolitan area. The county covers about in the northern portion of the Central Valley, on into Gold Country. Steve White (judge)
Stephen W. "Steve" White (born April 13, 1949 in Sacramento, California) is a Judge of the Sacramento County Superior Court. He served as Presiding Judge for 2010 and 2011. He was appointed to the bench in 2003 by Governor Gray Davis. Between 1999 and 2003, he served as the Inspector General of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, overseeing California's prison system, and from 2001 to 2003 also served as Special Counsel to the Governor. From 1995 to 1999 he was a partner in the law firm Kronick Moskovitz Tiedemann & Girard. He was the District Attorney of Sacramento County from 1989 to 1995. From 1983 to 1989 he was Chief Assistant Attorney General for California. From 1979 to 1983 he was Executive Director of the California District Attorneys Association. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office (SSO), is a local law enforcement agency that serves Sacramento County, California. It provides general-service law enforcement to unincorporated areas of Sacramento County, as well as incorporated cities within the county that have contracted with the agency for law-enforcement services. United States Magistrate Judge
In United States federal courts, magistrate judges are judges appointed to assist U.S. district court judges in the performance of their duties. Magistrate judges generally oversee first appearances of criminal defendants, set bail, and conduct other administrative duties. The position of "magistrate judge" or "magistrate" also exists in some unrelated state courts (see below). Magistrate judges are appointed by a majority vote of the federal district judges of a particular district and serve terms of eight years if full-time, or four years if part-time, and may be reappointed. As of March 2009 there were 517 full-time and 42 part-time authorized magistrate judgeships, as well as one position combining magistrate judge and clerk of court. Alyson Lewis
Alyson Lewis (formerly Huber, born March 1, 1972) is an American politician who served in the California State Assembly from 2008–2012. She is currently a judge of the Superior Court of Sacramento County in California for a term that expires in January 2027. She is a Democrat. Career Political In 2008 Lewis ran for the California State Assembly to represent the 10th district. She ran under her married name, Huber. For over three weeks after the November general election, Lewis was behind in the vote count; however, after provisional ballots from Sacramento County were counted, she was declared the winner on November 26, 2008. The final count showed she had defeated Jack Sieglock, a Republican and a San Joaquin County Supervisor, by 474 votes.
