SJ X40
The X40 is a series of electric multiple units operated by SJ of Sweden. They are in service from Stockholm to Linköping, Västerås/Örebro, Uppsala and Gävle/ Sandviken, and since 2010 to Gothenburg via Västerås. The double decker trains were built by Alstom from 2004–2008, with 43 units being delivered, either in a two-car or three-car configuration. It is based on the Coradia series, very similar to the French SNCF Class Z 26500 double decker trains, and similar to the X60-series. The X40 is the first true double-decker train to operate in Sweden, although the first and last cars of the Y3 were built in a style similar to dome cars, connected to single-deck coaches. From 2019 onwards the bilevel Stadler DOSTO will also be used in the Mälardalen and Uppsala regions of Sweden. Eskilstuna
Eskilstuna () is a city and the seat of Eskilstuna Municipality, Södermanland County, Sweden. The city of Eskilstuna had 67,359 inhabitants in 2015, with a total population of 100,092 inhabitants in Eskilstuna municipality (2014). Eskilstuna has a large Sweden Finn population. The town is located on the River Eskilstunaån, which connects Lake Hjälmaren and Lake Mälaren. Nyköping
Nyköping () is a locality and the seat of Nyköping Municipality, Södermanland County, Sweden with 32,759 inhabitants as of 2017. The city is also the capital of Södermanland County. Including Arnö, the locality on the southern shore of the bay just a couple of kilometres from the city centre, Nyköping would have above 36,000 inhabitants. Commonly, Arnö is referred to as a part of the city proper. It forms a wider conurbation with the neighbouring minor municipality and town of Oxelösund south of its outskirts. SJ Y3
Y3 was a series of diesel railcars operated by Statens Järnvägar (SJ) of Sweden. Six units were delivered by Linke-Hofmann of Germany in 1966–67, with electrical equipment supplied by ASEA. They remained in service until 1990, serving first on the unelectrified services Stockholm – Mora and Malmö – Karlskrona, later on Ystadbanan. The Y3 served the same purpose as the electric X9-series. A variation of configurations was used, with the production consisting of six motor cars, two cab cars and eleven trailers. With motor cars on each end the Y3 could have six trailers between.
