Peter Sykora (footballer)
Peter Sykora (born 9 October 1946 in Wismar) is a former East Germany, East German association football player who spent the majority of his career with F.C. Hansa Rostock. Until 1965, Sykora played for TSG Wismar, joining the club aged 12. Here he played ten matches in East Germany's second-tier DDR-Liga. Together with his Wismar teammate Klaus-Peter Stein Sykora celebrated his greatest success, winning the title at the UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship, UEFA junior tournament in West Germany in 1965. The East German team beat Portugal, Austria, the Netherlands and Czechoslovakia to advance to the final where the underdogs beat England 3–2 in front of 18,000 spectators in Essen. Between 1964 and 1965 Sykora played in 8 matches with the East German Under-18 national team, until 1969 in another 15 matches for the Under-23 national team. Zdeněk Sýkora
Zdeněk Sýkora (February 3, 1920 – July 12, 2011) was a Czechoslovakian Modernism, modern abstract art, abstract painter and sculptor, and a pioneer of using computers in art. Early life Sýkora was born and died in Louny, Czechoslovakia. His style and medium changed from landscape paintings in the late 1940s to geometrical abstract art, abstract structures in the 50s. Influenced by cubism and surrealism in the 1960s, he became one of the first artists to use computers in creating geometric abstract paintings. During the Military occupations by the Soviet Union, Soviet occupations of many countries after World War II, including Czechoslovakia, Sýkora was unable to hold many exhibitions, and some of the only pieces that can be seen from the late 1960s are government building projects. Travis Alvin Sykora (born April 28, 2004) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Washington Nationals organization. Career Sykora attended Round Rock High School in Round Rock, Texas. He was selected by the Washington Nationals in the third round of the 2023 Major League Baseball draft. Sykora signed with the Nationals rather than play college baseball at the University of Texas at Austin. He made his professional debut in 2024 with the Fredericksburg Nationals. Tibor Sýkora (born 18 September 1938) is a former Czechoslovak slalom canoeist of Slovak nationality who competed in the 1960s. He won a gold medal in the C1 team event at the 1961 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in Hainsberg. He also finished 5th in the individual C1 event at the same World Championships. Sýkora started out as a middle distance runner, but had to change sports after tearing both his achilles heels in 3000m steeplechase run. Thomas Sykora (born 18 May 1968) is a former alpine skier from Austria. Biography Thomas comes from a sporting family: his father Ernst Sykora was a ski instructor, and his aunts Liese Prokop and Maria Sykora were both successful athletes. He competed at the 1994 Winter Olympics and the 1998 Winter Olympics, winning a bronze medal at the latter. Sykora won the 1996/97 and 1997/98 Slalom World Cups. Before winning these 2 World Cups, he finished second of the competition in 1994 in Lech. After finishing first in the first round, he eventually was beaten by Alberto Tomba by 2 hundredths of a second after the second round. In total, Thomas won nine World Cup races. Stacy Denise Sykora (born June 24, 1977) is an American retired volleyball player. She was a two-time All-American at Texas A&M University and she competed in both the 2000 Summer Olympics, 2000 and the 2004 Summer Olympics, 2004 Olympics as part of the United States women's national volleyball team, U.S. women's national team. Petr Sýkora (born December 21, 1978) is a Czech former ice hockey player. He played 12 games in the National Hockey League with the Nashville Predators and Washington Capitals between 1999 and 2005. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1998 to 2020, was mainly spent in the Czech Extraliga. Internationally he played for the Czech national team at the 2007 World Championships. Petr Sýkora (; born November 19, 1976) is a Czech former professional ice hockey right winger who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New Jersey Devils, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Minnesota Wild.
