Sør-Hidle
Hidle or Sør-Hidle is an island in Strand municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The island lies at the southeastern edge of a large archipelago of islands located between the Boknafjorden and the mouth of the Høgsfjorden, just to the northeast of city of Stavanger. The village of Tau lies about east of the island. The island of Åmøy lies a short distance to the west of Hidle and the island of Heng lies a short distance to the southeast. The highest point on the island is the tall Kråkeberget. The new Ryfast Tunnel was constructed under the fjord that surrounds the island, and the tunnel itself runs under the southern part of the island. Due to the length of the tunnel, a large ventilation shaft was constructed from the tunnel up to the island to provide fresh air inside the tunnel. Norway Chess
Norway Chess is an annual closed chess tournament, typically taking place in the May to June time period every year. The first edition took place in the Stavanger area, Norway, from 7 May to 18 May 2013. The 2013 tournament had ten participants, including seven of the ten highest rated players in the world per the May 2013 FIDE World Rankings. It was won by Sergey Karjakin, with Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura tied for second place. Norway Chess 2015 took place in mid-June 2015 and was a part of the inaugural Grand Chess Tour. The tournament has since decided to withdraw from the Grand Chess Tour. Strand, Norway
Strand is a municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Ryfylke. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Jørpeland. The municipality lies across the fjord from the city of Stavanger. The Ryfast tunnel system connects Stavanger and Strand by a very long undersea tunnel. The villages of Sørskår and Fiskå are located in northern Strand, on the southern shore of the Årdalsfjorden. This area of Strand produces fruit, vegetables, and dairy products. The Fiskå Mølle (Fiskå Mill) is located in Fiskå. The larger village of Tau is located on the western coast of Strand. Flor og Fjære is a collection of man-made tropical gardens on the island of Sør-Hidle outside of Stavanger, Norway Norway, officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a Nordic countries, Nordic country located on the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe. Ryfast
Ryfast is a subsea tunnel system in Rogaland county, Norway. The tunnel system is part of the Norwegian National Road 13, and it runs between the Stavanger (city), city of Stavanger in Stavanger Municipality, under a large fjord, and the area of Solbakk in the municipality of Strand, Norway, Strand. When the last section was drilled on 26 October 2017, Ryfast became the longest undersea road tunnel in the world, with its length greater than the Eysturoyartunnilin in the Faroe Islands at , the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line, Tokyo Bay Tunnel in Japan at , and the Shanghai Yangtze River Tunnel and Bridge, Shanghai Yangtze River Tunnel at in China.
