Södra Latin, officially Södra Latins gymnasium, ("Southern Latin" in Swedish) is an upper secondary school ("''gymnasium (school), gymnasieskola''"), situated in Södermalm, Stockholm. The current school building was inaugurated in 1891. History Södra Latin has a rich history, as its predecessor ''Södermalms Pedagogia'' employed its first headmaster as far back as in 1654. In 1820 it became a trivialskola and in 1879 it was merged with the southern part of Stockholms gymnasium, its new name being ''Stockholms högre allmänna å latinlinjen fullständiga läroverk å Södermalm''. The school changed its name multiple times through the years until it decided upon its current one in 1971. Isaac Grünewald
Isaac Grünewald (2 September 1889 – 22 May 1946) was a Swedish people, Swedish-Jewish expressionist Painting, painter born in Stockholm. He was the leading and central name in the first generation of Swedish modernists from 1910 up until his death in 1946, in other words during almost his entire career spanning four decades. He was a highly productive painter as well as a writer and public speaker. Biography Having studied at an influential Swedish art school for three years, at age 19 Grünewald travelled with his friends Einar Jolin and Einar Nerman to Paris where they soon began studies at Henri Matisse's academy. Peter Pohl
Peter Pohl (born 5 December 1940) is a Swedish author and former director and screenwriter of short films. He has received prizes for several of his books and films, as well as for his entire work. From 1966 until his retirement in 2005, he was lecturer in Numerical analysis at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. Biography ''Peter Pohl'' was born on 5 December 1940 in Hamburg, Germany. He lost his father during World War II and moved to Sweden with his mother in 1945, where he started school in 1947. Klas Östergren
Klas Östergren (born 20 February 1955) is a Swedish novelist, short story writer, screenwriter, and translator. Östergren had a breakthrough with his fourth novel ''Gentlemen'' in 1980. He has been awarded numerous Swedish literary prizes, such as Doblougska priset in 1998 and the grand prize by the literary society, Samfundet De Nio in 2005, as well as being nominated for the Guldbagge Award for Best Screenplay in 1999. Hjalmar Mehr
Hjalmar Leo Mehr (19 November 1910 – 26 December 1979) was a Swedish Social Democratic politician, mayor of Stockholm (1958–1966, 1970–1971) and governor of Stockholm County (1971–1977). He promoted many radical socialist welfare state policies but is mostly remembered and criticized for the redevelopment of Norrmalm, where a significant part of the old Stockholm was demolished. John Landquist
John Landquist (3 December 1881 in Stockholm – 2 April 1974 in Danderyd) was a Swedish literary critic, literary scholar, writer and professor of pedagogy and psychology at Lund University from 1936 to 1946. When Landquist studied at Uppsala University, he was a member of the student organization '' Les quatre diables'' together with Sven Lidman, Sigurd Agrell and Harald Brising. Landquist was engaged in Strindbergsfejden and released August Strindberg's works. Jonas Hassen Khemiri (born 27 December 1978) is a Swedish writer. He is the author of six novels, seven plays, and a collection of essays, short stories and plays.
