Sélim
Sélim is a village situated in Mbomou Prefecture, Central African Republic. History In 2009, the 25-meter-long bride in Sélim was rehabilitated for two months. On third week of March 2011, LRA attacked Sélim. Responding to the death of a biker by the herders, armed herders clashed with the Sélim's farmers on 11 October 2013 in Sélim. Four people died, including one farmer and three herders. Three houses were also burned. On the next day, ex-Séléka officials visited Sélim to disarm the villagers. Unfortunately, they only managed to disarm the farmers as the herders had left from the village. On 13 October 2013, 20 armed herders visited Sélim intending to buy cows. However, they attacked and looted the trader and village chief's house. Moreover, they burned hundreds of houses, granaries, and 20 motorcycles. Villager houses were also pillaged. Agoumar
Agoumar is a village located in Mbomou. It is situated near Rafai town in Central African Republic. History LRA bands attacked Agoumar on 21 March 2010 for five hours. They kidnapped 16 people and killed eight people. The militias burned houses and barns and looted the villager's properties. Consequently, some residents fled to Bangassou while others went to DR Congo. LRA attacked Agoumar on 16 January 2011 and they kidnapped young girls. On 17 April 2016, LRA militia led by Achaye 'Doctor' attacked Agoumar.They pillaged granaries and other stuff. The residents fled to the nearby bush. However, local self-defense groups repelled the LRA attack and captured three. After the attack, the Moroccan contingent of MINUSCA visited Agoumar and demanded the villagers hand over the injured LRA militia. Lord's Resistance Army
The Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) is a Christian extremist organization operating in Central Africa and East Africa. Its origins were in the War in Uganda (1986–1994), Ugandan insurgency (1986–1994) against Yoweri Museveni, during which Joseph Kony founded the LRA in 1987. The group is active in northern Uganda, South Sudan, Sudan, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Its stated goal is against internal oppression under successive regimes, notably President Museveni's. Rafaï
Rafaï is a town and sub-prefecture on the Chinko River, in the Central African Republic Prefectures of the Central African Republic, prefecture of Mbomou. Its estimated population is about 14,000 people. History The Sultanate of Rafaï was the last of Ubangi-Shari to still have its sultan. The last sultan assumed the throne in 1909. On 12 March 2013 Rafaï was captured by Seleka rebels. On 3 March 2018 it was captured by Union for Peace in the Central African Republic, UPC rebels, but three days later it was recaptured by Anti-balaka. Bangassou
Bangassou is a city in the southeastern of Central African Republic, lying on the north bank of the Mbomou River. It has a population of 24,447 (2003 census) and is the capital of the Mbomou prefecture. It is known for its wildlife, market, and nearby Bangassou Airport and is linked by ferry to the Democratic Republic of Congo on the south bank. The city is also home to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bangassou. Axmin Mining Camp and Kembé Falls are located in the area. History During the French colonial occupation of Congo Free State, the French military established a base at Bangassou. In 1922 the Spiritains established a Catholic mission in the town.
