Séamus Prendergast
Séamus Prendergast (born 1 January 1980) is an Irish people, Irish Hurling, hurler who played as a centre-forward at senior level for the Waterford county hurling team, Waterford county team. Born in Ardmore, County Waterford, Ardmore, County Waterford, Prendergast first played competitive hurling in his youth. He first arrived on the inter-county scene as a member of various Waterford teams at underage levels. Prendergast joined the senior panel during the 2001 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, 2001 championship and subsequently became a regular member of the starting fifteen. He went on to win four Munster Senior Hurling Championship, Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. Prendergast was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. As a member of the Munster GAA, Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, Prendergast won one Railway Cup medal. Ardmore, County Waterford
Ardmore () is a seaside resort and fishing village in County Waterford, Ireland, not far from Youghal on the south coast of Ireland. The village is in a civil parish of the same name. As of the 2022 census, the village had a population of 468. Ardmore is believed to be the oldest Christian settlement in Ireland. According to tradition, Saint Declan lived in the region in the early 5th century, and Christianised the area before the coming of Saint Patrick. Derry GAA
The Derry County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) () or Derry GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland. It is responsible for Gaelic games in County Londonderry in Northern Ireland (the GAA refers to the county as Derry). The county board is also responsible for the Derry county teams. Football is the most popular of the county board's Gaelic games. The county football team won an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) in 1993; it was the fourth from the province of Ulster to do so, following Cavan, Donegal and Down. 2002 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 2002 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship (known as the Guinness Hurling Championship for sponsorship reasons) was the 116th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The draws for the respective provincial championships took place on 27 October 2001. The championship ran from 27 April to 8 September 2002. Tipperary entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Kilkenny in the All-Ireland semi-final. The All-Ireland final was played on 8 September 2002 at Croke Park in Dublin, between Kilkenny and Clare, in what was their fourth championship meeting overall but their first All-Ireland final meeting in 70 years.
