São Raimundo Esporte Clube, or São Raimundo, as they are usually called, is a Brazilian football team from Santarém in Pará, founded on 9 January 1944. São Raimundo is currently ranked fourth among Pará teams in CBF's national club ranking, at 120th place overall. History On January 3, 1944, a committee formed by David Nathanael Valdomiro Pinto and Gerson Marino went to the house of Odorico Reis de Almeida and invited him to assume the presidency of the club, for which he already showed their sympathy publicly. The invitation was accepted and soon marked the meeting of presentation and possession. On 6 January, the house of Odorico Almeida himself was the meeting where the new board was chosen and sworn, with Odorico Reis Almeida as President and maintenance of other associates in positions for which they were elected previously. Estádio Municipal Colosso do Tapajós, commonly known as Colosso do Tapajós'', is a football stadium located in Santarém, Brazil. It is the home stadium of São Francisco Futebol Clube and São Raimundo Esporte Clube. Santarém () is a Municipalities of Brazil, municipality in the western part of the state of Pará in Brazil. Located at the confluence of the Tapajós and Amazon Rivers, it has become a popular tourist destination. The Brazilian Football Confederation (, CBF) is the governing body of football in Brazil. It was founded on Monday, 8 June 1914, as , and renamed Confederação Brasileira de Desportos in 1916. The football confederation, as known today, separated from other sports associations on 24 September 1979. The CBF has its headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. The Campeonato Brasileiro Série D (English: Brazilian Championship Serie D), commonly known as the Série D or the Brazilian Série D to distinguish it from the Italian Serie D, is the fourth division of the Brazilian football league system, and was announced by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) on 9 April 2008. The Campeonato Brasileiro Série D was formed from the split of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C, Série C, keeping its best 20 clubs and playing double round robin as does the top three divisions. The Série D keeps the same format of the older Série C, but with participation limited to 40 clubs recognized by the state federation. In 2016 the Série D was expanded to 68 clubs, but in 2022 it was reduced to 64 clubs. 2009 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D
In 2009, the Campeonato Brasileiro Série D, the fourth division of the Brazilian Football, is currently being contested for first time in history. The competition has 40 clubs, four of which will eventually qualify to the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C to be contested in 2010. Competition format The 40 teams are divided in ten groups of 4, playing within them in a double round-robin format. The two best ranked in each group at the end of 6 rounds will qualify to the Second Stage, which will be played in home-and-away system. Winners advance to Third Stage along with the three losers with best record in previous stages. The quarterfinal winners will be promoted to the Série C 2010. As there is no Série E, technically there will be no relegation. However, teams who were not promoted will have to re-qualify for Série D 2010 through their respective state leagues.
