The São Paulo Cultural Center (English language, English: ''Centro Cultural São Paulo'') is a public institution subordinated to the Municipal Department of Culture of São Paulo that includes the Pinacoteca Municipal de São Paulo, Pinacoteca Municipal, the Oneyda Alvarenga Record Collection, the collection of Mário de Andrade's Folklore Research Mission, a set of libraries, exhibition spaces, an area for various courses, theaters and a cinema. It is considered one of the city's main cultural spaces and one of the first institutions in São Paulo to be considered a "cultural center" in the strict sense of the term. It opened in 1982. Adoniran Barbosa, artistic name of João Rubinato (6 August 1910 – 23 November 1982), was a noted Brazilian São Paulo style samba singer and composer. Biography Early years João Rubinato was the seventh child of Francesco (Fernando) Rubinato and Emma Ricchini, Italian immigrants from Cavarzere ( province of Venice). His parents had settled in Valinhos, a rural town in the state of São Paulo, about 70 km from the city of São Paulo. In 2010, two bridges were named after Rubinato: one located in Valinhos, Brazil, where the singer was born, and another in Cavarzere, Italy, where his parents came from. He is said to have been a rather reluctant student, and started working at an early age (which required falsifying his birth date). Antônio Salim Curiati ( Avaré, Brazil, 13 February 1928) is a Brazilian physician, and politician. He was Mayor of São Paulo from 13 May 1982 to 14 March 1983. Early life He is the son of Lebanese immigrants. Initially he studied at Scholar Group "Matilde Vieira" in Avaré, but later moved to São Paulo and attended the Colégio Marista Arquidiocesano. Reynaldo Emídio de Barros (14 May 1931 – 11 February 2011) was a Brazilian politician who was mayor of São Paulo from 1979 to 1982, during the time of the military dictatorship. Barros came from a politically prominent family in São Paulo. He was the son of , a politician himself and substitute for São Paulo senator , and Maria Antonieta Ferreira. The Mário de Andrade Library (in Portuguese: ''Biblioteca Mário de Andrade''; BMA) is the largest public library in the city of São Paulo, Brazil.
