Sándor Simó
Sándor Simó (7 August 1934 – 4 September 2001) was a Hungarian film producer, film director, director and screenwriter. He produced 25 films and directed a further seven. His 1969 film ''Those Who Wear Glasses'' won the Golden Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival. His 1977 film ''My Father's Happy Years'' was entered into the 28th Berlin International Film Festival. 28th Berlin International Film Festival
The 28th annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 22 February to 5 March 1978. Director Wolf Donner successfully managed to shift the festival's date from June to February, a change which has remained ever since. This was the first year the festival was held in February. The festival opened with '' Opening Night'' by John Cassavetes and closed with Steven Spielberg's out of competition film ''Close Encounters of the Third Kind''. The jury awarded the Golden Bear to Spain for its contribution to the festival. The three Spanish films which were screened at the festival and won it were short film '' Ascensor'' directed by Tomás Muñoz and feature films '' What Max Said'' by Emilio Martínez Lázaro and ''Las truchas'' by José Luis García Sánchez. A new section for children was introduced at the festival. ''Whoops'' () is a 1993 Hungarian comedy film directed by Gyula Maár. It was entered into the 43rd Berlin International Film Festival. Elementary satire on the Hungarian regime change. Every sentence is spot on. Even though Ede and Kati hated the previous system, they can't help themselves in the new one. In addition, a woman named Elvira turns up and tells him that she has a forty-one-year-old son, whose father is Ede. Set in the nineties, the main characters Ede, the husband (Dezső Garas), and Kati, the wife (Mari Törőcsik), are in their sixties. They spent their youth and working years under the Kádár regime, where they were assigned the role of the "patsy", and this has not changed since the regime change. The flag still flies for the former cadre brother-in-law. Their usual daily arguments and grumbling continue as they have done for decades.
