Sándor Puhl
Sándor Puhl (14 July 1955 – 20 May 2021) was a Hungarian football referee, best known for officiating four matches in the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States, including the final between Brazil and Italy. He also refereed UEFA Champions League matches, including the 1997 UEFA Champions League Final between Borussia Dortmund and Juventus. Dortmund ended up winning 3–1. Arguably, Sandor Puhl is most famous for referreeing the last world cup qualifier for France 98 between Iran and Australia where Iran shockingly came from 2-0 down to tie the game 2-2 and qualify for the World Cup due to the away goal rule. He was elected as IFFHS' World's Best Referee of the Year four consecutive times: 1994 - 1997. After retiring as a referee, he was Deputy Chairman of the Hungarian Football Association (2000-2006). 1998 UEFA Champions League Final
The 1998 UEFA Champions League final was a football match that took place at the Amsterdam Arena in Amsterdam, on 20 May 1998 to determine the winner of the 1997–98 UEFA Champions League. It pitted Real Madrid of Spain and Juventus of Italy. Juventus appeared in their third consecutive final, while Real Madrid were in their first of the Champions League era. Said Belqola
Said Belqola (; August 30, 1956 – June 15, 2002) was a Moroccan football referee, best known for officiating the 1998 FIFA World Cup final between Brazil and France, being the first African referee to officiate a World Cup final. Belqola's international career began when he was appointed to the international list in 1993, going on to referee the match between France and England at the Tournoi de France in 1997. He was also among the referees at the final tournaments of the Africa Cup of Nations in 1996 and 1998, officiating two matches at each tournaments. At the 1998 FIFA World Cup finals, he also officiated two group matches (Germany vs. USA and Argentina vs. Croatia). The 1998 FIFA World Cup final was the final match of the 1998 FIFA World Cup, the 16th edition of the quadrennial football competition organised by FIFA for the men's national teams of its member associations. The match was played at the Stade de France in Paris, France, on 12 July 1998, and was contested by Brazil and France. Edgardo Codesal
Edgardo Codesal Méndez (; born 2 June 1951 in Montevideo, Uruguay) is a Uruguayan-born Mexican football referee, who refereed the 1990 World Cup final between West Germany and Argentina, held in Italy. Career His grandfather was from Argentina, and his father, José Maria Codesal, was a referee in the 1966 FIFA World Cup. As a child he remembered his father refereeing. Edgardo was passionate about football, played in childhood Baby Football teams in the area and in his teens he played as goalkeeper for the Club Atlético Cerro of Montevideo. The 1993 Artemio Franchi Cup was the second edition of the Artemio Franchi Cup, a football match between the winners of the previous South American and European championships. The match featured Argentina, winners of the 1991 Copa América, and Denmark, winners of UEFA Euro 1992. It was played at Estadio José María Minella in Mar del Plata, Argentina, on 24 February 1993. Piero Daniel Maza Gómez (born 25 October 1984) is a Chilean football referee who officiates in the Chilean Primera División. He has been a FIFA referee since 2018. Refereeing career Maza began officiating in the Chilean Primera División during the 2014–15 season. He refereed his first match on 27 July 2014 between Cobresal and Palestino. In 2018, Maza was added to the FIFA International Referees List. He officiated his first CONMEBOL club match that year on 10 April, a Copa Sudamericana fixture between Ecuadorian club LDU Quito and Bolivian club Guabirá.
