Sálin Hans Jóns MÃns (band)
Sálin hans Jóns mÃns, sometimes abbreviated to Sálin, was an Icelandic rock band established in ReykjavÃk by Guðmundur Jónsson, Jón Ólafsson and Stefán Hilmarsson, with Rafn Jónsson and Harald Þorsteinsson joining for their inaugural year. The band held its first concert in March 1988, considered the year of establishment. In 1989, Rafn Jónsson and Harald Þorsteinsson were replaced by Friðrik Sturluson and Jens Hansson as permanent members. The name is based on an Icelandic legend of the same name, '' Sálin hans Jóns mÃns'', written by Icelandic poet DavÃð Stefánsson DavÃð Stefánsson (21 January 1895 – 1 March 1964) was an Icelandic poet and novelist, best known for his ten volumes of poetry. DavÃð Stefánsson (21 January 1895 – 1 March 1964) was an Icelandic poet and novelist, best known for his ten volumes of poetry. He was born on 21 January 1895, in Fagriskógur, Eyjafjörður, Iceland and he died on 1 March 1964, in Akureyri, Iceland. DavÃð came of a cultured yeoman family and was brought up with a love for his homeland, its literature, and its folklore. He frequently journeyed abroad but lived most of his life in the town of Akureyri, where he was a librarian (1925–52).
