The Szydłowiecki (plural: Szydłowieccy, feminine form: Szydłowiecka) was a Polish ''szlachta'' (nobility) family. A branch of the House of Odrowąż. Magnates in the Kingdom of Poland and the First Republic of Poland. Their family nest was Szydłowiec at the Korzeniówka river near Radom in Masovia. Chorągiew Szydłowieckich
Chorągiew (; literally: "banner") was the basic administrative unit of the Polish and Lithuanian cavalry from the 14th century. An alternative name until the 17th century was '' rota''. 14th to 17th centuries Between the 14th and 17th century the ''Chorągiew'' was composed of smaller sub-units – the ''Poczet''. Types of ''Chorągiew'' were: * (District banner), formed by knights of a district. * (Clan banner), formed by clans. * (Court banner), formed by troops of the King. 15th century (2nd half) to 18th century (1st half) In the cavalry, since the second half of the 15th century until the first half of the 18th century, a ''Chorągiew'' was formed according to the "companion system" (system zaciągu towarzyskiego). Jakub Szydłowiecki (born around 1456, died 1509) was a Polish nobleman and politician. In the years 1493-1501 he was Burgrave of Kraków and was a courtier of the king from 1496, Treasurer of the Crown Court in 1497, Grand Teasurer of the Crown from 1501 to 1506, and castellan and starost of Sandomierz, Sochaczew and Łęczyca. Family Jakub Szydłowiecki was son (probably fourth) of Stanisław Szydłowiecki and his first wife Barbara ze Starosiedlic i Orońska. He had four siblings - brothers: two named Stanisław, which died in childhood, and Jan (d. before 29 March 1507), a scholastic of Płock, and sister Katarzyna, wife of Stanisław z Grocholic. Odrowąż is a Polish heraldry, Polish coat of arms of probably Moravian origin. It was used by many noble families known as ''szlachta'' in Polish in medieval Poland and later under the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, branches of the original medieval Odrowążowie family as well as families connected with the Clan by Heraldic adoption, adoption.
