Szopy, Warsaw

(in Polish) It is located in the district of Mokotów, in the City Information System area of Stegny. The neighbourhood consist of low-rise houses located around Bocheńska Street, and Jaśminowa Street. The first known mention of Szopy in the documentation comes from 1456. It was a small settlement owned by petty noble family of Szopski, located in the area of Puławska Street. In the late 18th century, in the portion of Szopy had settled German population. Since then the settlement became divided mostly into two portions, with the western portion inhabited by the German population becoming known as Szopy Niemieckie (''German Szopy''), and the eastern portion, inhabited by Polish population, known as Szopy Polskie (''Polish Szopy''). Warsaw is a city with powiat rights, and is further divided into 18 districts (''dzielnica'' ), auxiliary units which are legally integral parts of the city as an entity, but with some limited powers devolved to their own local governments (or ‘self-governments’ as they are typically referred to in Polish). Warszawa Mokotów Railway Station
Warszawa Mokotów (''Warsaw Mokotów''), until 1930 known simply as Warszawa (''Warsaw''), was a narrow-gauge railway station in Warsaw, Poland, located at the Union of Lublin Square. It was a turning station of two lines operated by the Wilanów Railway, and one line of the Grójec Commuter Railway. Królikarnia (in English, "The Rabbit House") is a historic classicist palace in Warsaw, Poland; and a neighborhood in the Mokotów district of Warsaw. Since 1965, the palace has housed a museum dedicated to Polish sculptor Xawery Dunikowski. History The palace is named for its former function as a rabbit warren for Poland's King Augustus II the Strong (reigned 1697–1706 and 1709–33).
