Syvde (or ''Myklebost'') is a village in Vanylven Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The village is located at the end of the Syvdsfjorden about east of the municipal center of Fiskå and south of the village of Rovdane. The village had a population (2012) of 393 and a population density of . Since 2012, the population and area data for this village area has not been separately tracked by Statistics Norway. History The village was the administrative centre for the old Syvde Municipality which existed from 1918 until 1964 when it was merged into Vanylven Municipality. The main church for the Syvde area is Syvde Church, located in Myklebost, right along the fjord. The village was historically known as ''Myklebost'', but due to being the centre of the old Syvde Municipality, it has become popularly known as ''Syvde'', which is now the common name for the village area. Syvde Church
Syvde Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Vanylven Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the village of Syvde. It is the church for the Syvde parish which is part of the Søre Sunnmøre prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Møre. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1837 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 392 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to 1432 in Aslak Bolt's cadastre, but the church was already existing at that time. The first church in Syvde was likely a wooden stave church that was possibly built in the 14th century. The original church site was at Myklebust, about to the southwest of the present church site. Syvde is a List of former municipalities of Norway, former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1918 until its dissolution in 1964. The area is now part of Vanylven Municipality in the Traditional districts of Norway, traditional district of Sunnmøre. Rovdane is a village in Vanylven Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located along the Rovdefjorden, about north of the village of Syvde, northeast of the municipal center of Fiskå, and (by road, not counting the ferry's sailing distance) west of the village of Volda. The district around Rovdane is referred to as Rovdestranda. Rovde Church is located in the village. Syvdsfjorden
Syvdefjorden is a fjord in Vanylven Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The long fjord flows from the village of Syvde to the north until it empties into the Rovdefjorden. The sides of the fjord are mountainous, particularly the eastern side, with mountainsides stretching up to high coming right out of the water. The old Syvde Municipality was centered on this fjord until it was merged into Vanylven Municipality in 1964.
