Syed Jamil Ahmed
Syed Jamil Ahmed is a Bangladeshi scholar, theatre director, and founding chair of the Department of Theatre and Music at the University of Dhaka. His most notable theatre productions include ''Kamala Ranir Sagar Dighi'' (1997), ''Ek Hazar Aur Ek Thi Rate'' (1998), ''Behular Bhasan'' (2004), ''Pahiye'' (2006) and ''Shong Bhong Chong'' (2009). He won Nandikar National Theatre Award of Calcutta and the B.V. Karanth Award of India's National School of Drama (NSD). Early life and education Ahmed joined the Liberation War in 1971 as a freedom fighter. The violence of the war impacted him, "having seen dead bodies rotting with gaping holes and the charred remains of abandoned homes, orhaving walked the streets of Dhaka city, clasping the clip of an unpinned grenade in istrousers pocket." National School Of Drama
National School of Drama (NSD) is a theatre training institute situated at New Delhi, India. It is an autonomous organization under Ministry of Culture, Government of India. It was set up in 1959 by the Sangeet Natak Akademi and became an independent school in 1975. In 2005, it was granted deemed university status, but in 2011 it was revoked. The University of Dhaka (also known as Dhaka University, or DU) is a public research university located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the oldest university in Bangladesh. Ebrahim Alkazi
Ebrahim Alkazi (18 October 1925 – 4 August 2020) was an Indian theatre director and drama teacher. A rigid disciplinarian, he instilled in his acting students an awe and reverence that they still carry with them, with several of them having had the privilege of continuing the practice and training in the NSD Repertory Company, an introduction made to the National School of Drama by Alkazi. His standards later became very influential.
