Sybil gained notable success in her career with songs during the mid-1980s into the mid-1990s. She is the cousin of former En Vogue singer Maxine Jones. Career Sybil signed to Next Plateau Records in the United States (with a licensing deal with Champion Records in the United Kingdom) and began recording in 1986 with the release of her first single "Falling in Love". The record reached the top 30 on the Dance charts and began a successful career for Sybil, releasing her debut album ''Let Yourself Go'' a year later, which was a minor hit. Sound recording and reproduction is the electrical, mechanical, electronic, or digital inscription and re-creation of sound waves, such as spoken voice, singing, instrumental music, or sound effects. The two main classes of sound recording technology are analog recording and digital recording. Sound recording is the transcription of invisible vibrations in air onto a storage medium such as a phonograph disc. The process is reversed in sound reproduction, and the variations stored on the medium are transformed back into sound waves. Acoustic analog recording is achieved by a microphone diaphragm that senses changes in atmospheric pressure caused by acoustic sound waves and records them as a mechanical representation of the sound waves on a medium such as a phonograph record (in which a stylus cuts grooves on a record). Background For this album, Sybil worked with different producers, including Mike Stock and Pete Waterman, Denise Rich, Prince Charles Alexander and others. The album was released in the US and Canada only. In Europe during the same year, Sybil released a different album titled '' Good 'N' Ready'' that shares four songs with ''Doin' It Now!'': "You're the Love of My Life", "The Love I Lost", "Guarantee of Love" and "Now or Never", but otherwise both albums go in a different musical direction. "When I'm Good and Ready" is a song by American R&B and pop singer-songwriter Sybil, released on March 8, 1993 as the first single from her fifth album, '' Good 'N' Ready'' (1993). Written and produced by Stock/Waterman, it also features backing vocals by Mae McKenna, Stock and Miriam Stockley. It went on to become one of her most successful songs and a major hit on the charts in Europe, reaching the top 10 in the UK and Ireland, peaking at number five and six. "The Love I Lost" is a song by American R&B group Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. Originally written as a ballad by Philly soul songwriters Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, the song was transformed into a disco song and features drummer Earl Young. Sybilization ''Sybilization'' is the third album by American singer Sybil, released in 1990. Background Sybil worked with a myriad of producers for this album, including James Bratton, Eddie O'Loughlin, Stacey Harcum, Stock Aitken Waterman and others. It was released in quick succession to her previous album, which had been released a year before and Sybil had had her biggest hit up to that point in the UK with a cover of "Walk On By" in early 1990. The album and its singles, however, were ignored by both radio and record buyers and did not chart. Cassandra Lucas and Charisse Rose, who went on to form the successful R&B group Changing Faces in the mid-1990s, sang backing vocals on three tracks on the album, including the single "Let It Rain". |
