Swing (Renée Geyer Album)
''Swing'' is the fifteenth and final studio album by Australian soul and R&B singer Renée Geyer. The album was released on 19 April 2013 and peaked at number 22 on the ARIA Charts. ''Swing'' is Geyer's big band interpretation of classics as well as remakes of two of her own hits, " Say I Love You" and "It's a Man's Man's Man's World". Geyer told ''The Sydney Morning Herald'' that ''Swing'' was inspired by Frank Sinatra's 1966 recording with Count Basie in Las Vegas, an album she had long admired. It took the success of Michael Buble to convince her that she should lend her distinctive voice to a big-band album. Geyer toured the album across 2013. At the 2013 ARIA Music Awards, the album was nominated for Best Jazz Album, losing to ''Smile'' by the Idea Of North. Renée Rebecca Geyer (11 September 195317 January 2023) was an Australian singer who was an acclaimed jazz, soul and R&B musician.* 1st edition nline * 2nd edition rint She released 15 studio albums with '' Moving Along'' (1977) and '' Tenderland'' (2003) both reaching number 11 on the Australian charts. The 27th Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (generally known as ARIA Music Awards or simply The ARIAs) were a series of award ceremonies which included the 2013 ARIA Artisan Awards, ARIA Hall of Fame Awards, ARIA Fine Arts Awards and ARIA Awards. Paul Maurice Kelly (born 13 January 1955) is an Australian rock music singer-songwriter and guitarist. "Comin' Home Baby" is a song originally written as an instrumental by Ben Tucker and first recorded by the Dave Bailey Quintet for their album '' 2 Feet in the Gutter'' in 1961, and shortly thereafter by Herbie Mann on his live album '' Herbie Mann at the Village Gate''. Bart Howard (born Howard Joseph Gustafson, June 1, 1915 – February 21, 2004) was an American composer and songwriter, most notably of the jazz standard "Fly Me to the Moon", which has been performed by Kaye Ballard, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Della Reese, Bobby Womack, Diana Krall, Paul Anka, June Christy, Brenda Lee, Astrud Gilberto, Nat King Cole, Peggy Lee, Sia and RAYE and Super Tough among others. John Herndon Mercer (November 18, 1909 – June 25, 1976) was an American lyricist, songwriter, and singer, as well as a record label executive who co-founded Capitol Records with music industry businessmen Buddy DeSylva and Wallichs Music City, Glenn E. Wallichs. He is best known as a Tin Pan Alley lyricist, but he also composed music and was a popular singer who recorded his own as well as others' songs from the mid-1930s through the mid-1950s. Ira Gershwin (born Israel Gershovitz; December 6, 1896 – August 17, 1983) was an American lyricist who collaborated with his younger brother, composer George Gershwin, to create some of the most memorable songs in the English language of the 20th century. Joe Williams (born Joseph Goreed; December 12, 1918 – March 29, 1999) was an American jazz singer.
