Sirte
Sirte (; , ), also spelled Sirt, Surt, Sert or Syrte, is a city in Libya. It is located south of the Gulf of Sirte, almost right in the middle between Tripoli and Benghazi. It is famously known for its battles, ethnic groups and loyalty to former Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi. Due to developments in the First Libyan Civil War, it was briefly the capital of Libya as Tripoli's successor after the Fall of Tripoli from 1 September to 20 October 2011. The settlement was established in the early 20th century by the Italians, at the site of a 19th-century fortress built by the Ottomans. It grew into a city after World War II. Contrary to popular belief, Sirte was not Muammar Gaddafi's birthplace, as wrongly reported. Gaddafi's birthplace was in a village 20 km south of Sirte, which is called Qasr Abu Hadi. The inhabitants of this village were farmers. Just a few significant people from the Gaddafi tribe, of whom some were born in Sirte, were appointed to government ro ...

Surt (volcano)
Surt is an active volcano on Jupiter's moon Io. It is located on Io's Jupiter-facing hemisphere at . Surt consists of an oblong volcanic pit (known as a ''patera''), in diameter, surrounded by reddish sulfur and bright sulfur dioxide deposits to its south and east. The volcano was first observed in images acquired by the ''Voyager 1'' spacecraft in March 1979. Later that year, the International Astronomical Union named this feature after Surtr, a leader of the fire giants of Norse mythology. Several eruptions have been observed at Surt since it was discovered by ''Voyager 1''. The first eruption observed by Earth-based astronomers following the discovery of Ionian volcanism took place at Surt on June 11, 1979, between the ''Voyager 1'' and '' Voyager 2'' flybys. When ''Voyager 2'' encountered the Jupiter system in July 1979, the eruption appeared to have ceased, but a fresh, -wide plume deposit was observed surrounding Surt. This plume deposit was suggestive of an active ...

Surt (planet)
HAT-P-29, also known as Muspelheim since 2019 (as part of the IAU's NameExoWorlds project), is a star about away. It is a G-type main-sequence star. The star's age of 2.2 billion years is less than half that of the Sun. HAT-P-29 is slightly enriched in heavy elements, having 35% more iron than the Sun. A very faint 19th-magnitude stellar companion was detected in 2016 at a projected separation of 3.290″, but Gaia DR2 astrometry suggests that this is an unrelated background object. Planetary system In 2011 a transiting hot Jupiter planet, HAT-P-29b, was detected on a mildly eccentric orbit. The planet was named " Surt" by Denmark in 2019. The planetary orbit is likely aligned with the equatorial plane of the star, with a misalignment equal to 26 degrees. In 2018, a transit-timing variation survey indicated additional planets with masses exceeding approximately half of Earth are absent in the system.
