Bernard James Freeman (born March 19, 1973), known professionally as Bun B, is an American rapper. He is best known as one half of the Southern rap duo UGK (Underground Kingz), a group he formed in 1987 alongside Pimp C. Aside from his work with UGK, Bun B has released five solo albums, including 2010's '' Trill OG'', which received the rare 5-mic rating from ''The Source''. He is also a guest lecturer at Rice University, located in Houston, Texas. Life and career UGK In the late 1980s, Pimp C started the rap duo UGK. Leo Nocentelli
Leo Nocentelli (born June 15, 1946) is an American musician and songwriter best known as a founding member and lead guitarist of the funk band the Meters. He wrote the original versions of several funk classics such as " Cissy Strut" and "Hey Pocky A-Way". As a session musician he has recorded with a variety of notable artists such as Dr. John, Robert Palmer and Etta James. He is the recipient of a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award as a member of the Meters. Career Nocentelli grew up in the Irish Channel and Seventh Ward neighborhoods of New Orleans. He was encouraged by his father to pursue music. He played ukulele at an early age and started on guitar at age twelve. The Meters
The Meters (later The Funky Meters) are an American funk band formed in 1965 in New Orleans by Zigaboo Modeliste (drums), George Porter Jr. (bass), Leo Nocentelli (guitar) and Art Neville (keyboards). Despite no music videos or official singles being released, it is their best selling album with over 850,000 copies sold to date, with 70,000 copies sold in its first week. Critical reception After receiving little attention from national critics upon its release, the album received widespread critical acclaim. Chad Lamont Butler (December 29, 1973 – December 4, 2007), better known by his stage name Pimp C, was an American rapper and record producer. He was best known for his work with Bun B as one half of the hip-hop duo Underground Kingz (UGK). Signing to Jive in 1992, UGK released their major-label debut studio album '' Too Hard to Swallow'' to critical acclaim. The group followed this with their second and third major-label albums '' Super Tight'' in 1994 and '' Ridin' Dirty'' in 1996, both of which charted in the ''Billboard'' 200 to further success.
