Sunspot Records was a small independent record label in Arlington, Virginia that existed in the early nineties. Avail
Avail is an American melodic hardcore band from Richmond, Virginia. Originally from Reston, Virginia, the band formed in 1987, its members including Joe Banks, Doug Crosby, Brien Stewart, and Mikey Warstler. The only original remaining member, guitar player Joe Banks, teamed up with rival band LDK's (Learning Disabled Kids) Tim Barry. They moved to Richmond in 1990, and soon, after numerous line up changes, put together a solid lineup to release their first album '' Satiate'' in 1992. Many of their lyrics center on Richmond. The band released six studio albums. The band has never officially disbanded, but has not released any new material since 2002 and stopped playing live shows in 2007. On March 26, 2019, the band announced a reunion show at The National in Richmond, Virginia, scheduled for July 19. Since then, they have played multiple shows and continue to tour. Shades Apart
Shades Apart is an American alternative rock band from Bridgewater Township, New Jersey. They are best known for their singles "Valentine" and "Stranger by the Day" as well as their cover of " Tainted Love." History Shades Apart formed in 1988, self-releasing an album that year; two EPs followed in 1992 and 1993. 1995, they issued ''Save It'', produced by Bill Stevenson and Stephen Egerton, which resulted in media exposure due to the success of their cover of Gloria Jones' " Tainted Love". The song would later be featured multiple times in the 2004 movie '' She's Too Young''. After another independent release in 1997, the band signed to Universal, who released ''Eyewitness'' in 1999 and ''Sonic Boom'' in 2001. In 1999, the single "Valentine" peaked at No. 31 on ''Billboards Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The Trans-Am Series presented by Pirelli is a sports car racing series held in North America. Founded in 1966, it is sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). Primarily based in the United States, the series competes on a variety of track types including road courses and street circuits. Trans-Am is split into the TA and TA2 classes for silhouette racing cars, while its production classes are the GT (grand touring), SGT (super grand touring), and XGT (extreme grand touring). Gern Blandsten Records is an independent record label based in Paramus, New Jersey. The label's acts have included The World/Inferno Friendship Society, Canyon, Chisel, the Van Pelt, Radio 4, The Flesh, Weston, Native Nod and Rye Coalition. Gern Blandsten also released the debut albums by Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Liars and Dälek. The label was founded by Rorschach's Charles Maggio in 1992, and is named after a character in a Steve Martin comedy routine from his 1979 album '' Comedy Is Not Pretty!''.
