Sunnyboys
Sunnyboys were an Australian power pop band formed in Sydney in 1979. Fronted by singer-songwriter/guitarist Jeremy Oxley, the band began performing on the city's pub circuit – where, according to music historian Ian Mc Farlane, they "breathed some freshness and vitality into the divergent Sydney scene". ''Sunnyboys'' is the debut studio album by the Australian power pop group of the Sunnyboys, same name. It was released in September 1981 on Mushroom Records, which peaked at No. 13 on the Australian Kent Music Report albums chart. For the album the group's line-up was Bil Bilson on drums, Richard Burgman on guitar, Jeremy Oxley on guitar and vocals, and his older brother, Peter Oxley, on bass guitar. It was recorded at Albert Productions, Alberts Studios in Sydney between May and July 1981 with Lobby Loyde as producer. Two singles were released from the album: "Happy Man (Sunnyboys song), Happy Man" (June 1981) and a new, re-recorded version of "Alone with You (Sunnyboys song), Alone with You from their debut Phantom Records EP, from their (October) – both reached the top 30 on the Kent Music Report singles chart. Jeremy Saxon Oxley (born 15 November 1961) is an Australian songwriter, singer and guitarist. He is best known for his work with the 1980s pop-rock band Sunnyboys. Biography 1961–1978: early life Jeremy Oxley grew up in the northern New South Wales town of Kingscliff after his parents, Eric and Jan, moved from Sydney. Jeremy was the second oldest of five children, the others being older brother Peter, sister Melanie and younger brothers Tim and Damien. Jeremy was a natural surfer, and at the age of 14 was Queensland's schoolboy surfing champion, he was also a talented soccer player and a gifted musician. ''Get Some Fun'' is the third studio album by the Australian power pop group, Sunnyboys. It was produced by Nick Garvey, formerly of The Motors and released in April 1984 on Mushroom Records. It peaked at No. 36 on the Australian Kent Music Report albums chart, but like all of the band's first three albums has come to be regarded as a classic of its time. Background For this album, the band hired new management in the form of Michael Chugg and in May 1983 Sunnyboys returned to the studio to record a new single, "Show Me Some Discipline" which possessed a darker soul to the band's previous fare. Sunnyboy
The Sunnyboy was a popular Australian brand of flavoured ice block, well known for its distinctive tetrahedral shape (a design called a tetra-pak), sold individually or in packs. The ice blocks were extremely popular all the way through to the early 1990s, being cheaply available throughout tuckshops, discount stores and milk bars across most Australian states. In 1980, the Australian rock band the Sunnyboys were established, with the ice block as their namesake, to represent "bright, happy, young, fun". In March 2013, comedian Dave O'Neil suggested that the company could ask the Sunnyboys to rename their band to one of their more marketable food product lines. ''Mushroom 25 Live'' is a live album, video and DVD by various Australian musicians and was recorded at the Mushroom 25 Concert held on Saturday 14 November 1998, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. From the early afternoon until late at night for the nine-hour concert, 56 acts, including many of the biggest names in Australian music, performed their hits to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Mushroom Records, which was organised by its owner, Michael Gudinski. The concert featured former Cold Chisel singer Jimmy Barnes guesting with INXS on "The Loved One" and "Good Times" in tribute of Michael Hutchence for their first public performance since his death in November 1997. Lobby Loyde (born John Baslington Lyde, 18 May 1941 – 21 April 2007), also known as John Barrie Lyde or Barry Lyde, was an Australian rock music guitarist, songwriter and producer. He was a member of two 1960s groups: Purple Hearts, which had a Top 40 hit with "Early in the Morning" in 1966, and Wild Cherries with their hit "That's Life" in 1967. He became a leading figure in the 1970s Australian pub rock scene, particularly as a member of Billy Thorpe & the Aztecs on their No. 8 album, ''The Hoax Is Over'' (1971) and Coloured Balls for a Top 20 album ''Ball Power'' (1973). He was briefly a member of Rose Tattoo during 1979 to 1980. Phantom Records was an Australian record store and independent record label established in 1978 on Pitt Street in Sydney. Phantom Records was one of Australia's first indie labels, and the store was known for its guerilla marketing strategies. History Phantom Records opened on 17 October 1978 as a record store on Pitt Street in Sydney. The store was opened by Dare Jennings, in partnership with former White Light Records staff Lee Taylor and John Foy. It began with ex-White Light stock and was fronted by a large window, emblazoned with the slogan "Phantom Records – The Big Beat in the Heart of the Vinyl Jungle". During its first months, Jules R. B.
