Sun Shu
Sun Shu (; 23 July 1933 – 11 February 2018) was a Chinese geologist. He was an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), and served as Director of the Institute of Geology of the CAS. Biography Sun was born on 23 July 1933 in Jintan, Jiangsu Province. After graduating from the geology department of Nanjing University, he began working for the Institute of Geology of the CAS. He was appointed director of the institute in 1984. In 1991 he became deputy director of the National Natural Sciences Fund. He was a professor at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a visiting professor at many Chinese universities including Nanjing University, East China Normal University, Zhejiang University, Northwest University, and others. Sun is a transliteration of a common Chinese surname (simplified Chinese: 孙; traditional Chinese: 孫; pinyin: Sūn). It is the third name listed in the Song dynasty classic text ''Hundred Family Surnames''. Jintan District
Jintan District is a district under the administration of Changzhou in the Jiangsu province of the People's Republic of China. History Jintan, known as Jinshan () in ancient times, was a township of Yanling commandery since the reign of the Emperor Yuan of Jin. Then it was promoted by its inhabitants as Jinshan county to strengthen the local vigilance in the late Sui dynasty, without permission. As a densely populated area, the county was reestablished in about 688 under the Tang dynasty, but since there was a namesake in present-day Jinhua, Zhejiang, it was named after Jintan, a hill of Mao Mountain. East China Normal University (ECNU) is a comprehensive public research university in Shanghai, China. It was formed in 1951 by the merger of the Great China University (est. 1924) and Kwang Hua University (est. 1925) and originated from the St. John's College founded in 1879.
