Sultan Of Johor Cup
The Sultan of Johor Cup is an annual, international under-21 men's field hockey tournament held in Malaysia. Since the first edition held in 2011, five teams have emerged victorious. Great Britain is the most successful team having won the tournament four times. India have won the tournament thrice, Australia and Germany have won the tournament twice, followed by Malaysia who have won the tournament once. 2011 Sultan Of Johor Cup
The 2011 Sultan of Johor Cup was the first edition of the Sultan of Johor Cup. It was held in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia from 5 to 12 November 2011. Malaysia defeated Australia 3–2 through golden goal after being tied 2–2 in the final match to win the cup. In field hockey, a penalty shootout is a method used to decide which team progresses to the next stage of a tournament (or wins the tournament) following a tied game. Two methods have been used: the original penalty stroke competition is a best-of-five penalty strokes with sudden death if scores were level after five strokes. An alternate penalty shoot-out competition was introduced at major tournaments in 2011. Sometimes known as a penalty shuffle, the method is similar to penalty shots in ice hockey and consists of one-on-ones between an attacking player and a goalkeeper. Sultan Azlan Shah Cup
The Sultan Azlan Shah Cup is an annual invitational international men's field hockey tournament held in Malaysia. It began in 1983 as a biennial contest. The tournament became an annual event from 1998, following its growth and popularity. The tournament is named after the ninth Yang di-Pertuan Agong (king) of Malaysia, Azlan Shah, Sultan Azlan Shah, a supporter of field hockey. Since 2007 the tournament has been held at the Azlan Shah Stadium in Ipoh, Perak. Kuala Lumpur and Penang have also hosted the tournament. Australia have won the tournament a record 10 times, followed by India and Pakistan winning five and three times, respectively.
