Sulphur Springs, Tampa
Sulphur Springs is a neighborhood and district located within the city limits of Tampa, Florida. At the time of the 2010 census, there were 5,727 residents, down somewhat from the 2000 census count of 6,308. In the late 19th century the mineral springs were a draw. In the 1940s, the area was a major tourist attraction, featuring a 40-foot water slide and American alligator, gator farm. Today, one of the primary draws to the area is Busch Gardens Tampa, a world-famous animal theme park and amusement park, located only 2.8 miles from Sulphur Springs. It is also the location of the Sulphur Springs History and Heritage Museum. The Florida Aquarium
The Florida Aquarium is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, publicly operated institution located in downtown Tampa, Florida, United States. It is a large scale, aquarium and is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. This means they are a leader in conservation and education, supporting programs for wildlife and having a strong educational component in the forms of summer camps, school trips, etc. The facility is home to more than 7,000 aquatic plants and animals from Florida and all over the world. Sulphur Springs Water Tower is a landmark of Tampa, Florida. It stands tall, with a foundation deep which makes it visible from nearby Interstate 275 and much of the rest of Sulphur Springs. It's located in the historic district of Sulphur Springs. History Modern history The water tower was built in 1927 by Grover Poole for realtor and developer Josiah S. Richardson to supply adequate water pressure to the ''Sulphur Springs Hotel and Apartments'' and ''Mave's Arcade'' Richardson had developed next to Sulphur Spring with plans to expand the resort spa, alligator farm tourist attraction, and other enterprises.
