''Sueños Líquidos'' (Spanish for ''Liquid Dreams'') is the fifth studio album (ninth overall) recorded by Mexican rock band Maná, It was released by WEA Latina on October 14, 1997 (see 1997 in music). After its release for the first time in over 36 countries across the globe, the band began to receive wide international attention, especially in Spain and the U.S., where the album sold over one million copies. This album was born of the desire to create an environment where water, a vital element, has an important presence. Because of this, the record was recorded in the coastal city of Puerto Vallarta, an important location in the creative atlas of Maná. ''Sueños Líquidos'' garnered Maná its first Grammy Award, for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Performance. Backmasking
Backmasking is a recording technique in which a message is recorded backward onto a track that is meant to be played forward. It is a deliberate process, whereas a message found through phonetic reversal may be unintentional. Artists have used backmasking for artistic, comedic and satiric effect, on both analogue and digital recordings. It has also been used to censor words or phrases for "clean" releases of explicit songs. Sergio Vallín
Sergio Vallín Loera (born May 26, 1972) is a Mexican guitarist of the Mexican band Maná. Vallín was born in Mexico City, where he lived for the first ten years of his life until he moved with his family to Aguascalientes, capital of the state of the same name. Thus he has nicknamed himself "Hidrocálido", after one of the demonyms for his adopted city. Early music He had his first contact with music when he became part of a local student music group when he was 8. The song was written by the band's frontman Fher Olvera, who handled production alongside Alex González and Benny Faccone. It was released as the fourth single from the album in 1997. José Fernando Emilio "Fher" Olvera Sierra (born 8 December 1959) is a Mexican musician and songwriter who is the secondary guitarist, composer and lead singer of the rock band Maná. Biography Early career Born as José Fernando Emilio Olvera, he started his musical career as a teenager playing with Gustavo Orozco and the brothers Ulises, Juan Diego and Abraham Calleros in Guadalajara; forming a band called Sombrero Verde in the 80s. The 10th Lo Nuestro Awards ceremony, presented by Univision honoring the best Latin music of 1997 and 1998 took place on May 14, 1998, at a live presentation held at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida. The ceremony was broadcast in the United States and Latin America by Univision. During the ceremony, nineteen categories were presented.
