Sudesh Fitzgerald
Sudesh P. Fitzgerald (born 8 August 1986, in Georgetown) is a Guyanese professional darts player. His nickname is His Majesty. Playing career Fitzgerald reached the semi-final of the 2008 WDF Americas Cup Singles, losing to Canada's Jerry Hull. Fitzgerald won the 2008 Caribbean and South American Masters to qualify for the 2009 PDC World Darts Championship where he faced South African Charles Losper in the preliminary round and lost 6-4. Better Hope
Better Hope is a village located in the Demerara-Mahaica region of Guyana. The village has been named after the Plantation Betterhoop It was originally a fishing village with many working on the sugar estates and nearby farms. 2009 PDC World Darts Championship
The 2009 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship was the 16th World Championship organised by the Professional Darts Corporation since it separated from the British Darts Organisation. The event took place at Alexandra Palace in London from 19 December 2008 and 4 January 2009. John Part was the defending champion, having won the PDC World Championship for the second time in the previous year's final against Kirk Shepherd. However, he was eliminated by Bill Davis on the opening night. Shepherd's poor form in 2008 continued, as he was also eliminated in the first round, by Dutchman Jan van der Rassel. Eventually, the title was won by Phil Taylor, with a 7–1 victory in the final over Raymond van Barneveld. Charles Losper (born 18 March 1969) is a South African professional darts player who currently played in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Darts career Having started playing darts in 1991, Losper's first major tournament appearance was in the 2003 WDF World Cup with the South African team. Having stayed with them for 3 years, he joined the Professional Darts Corporation in 2006 and made his first PDC tournament appearance in the South African Open. He failed to qualify for the final stages of the tournament but returned in 2007 to come through the 155 player field and win the tournament, beating Lodewyk Marais 4–0 in the final. 2019 PDC World Darts Championship
The 2019 William Hill World Darts Championship was the 26th World Championship organised by the Professional Darts Corporation since it separated from the British Darts Organisation. The event took place at Alexandra Palace in London from 13 December 2018 to 1 January 2019. In the biggest overhaul since 2006, when 16 extra participants were added, the number of participants increased from 72 to 96. The top 32 from the PDC Order of Merit competed with the 32 highest ranked players on the PDC Pro Tour Order of Merit and 32 qualifiers from around the world, including two female darts players. The tournament length was consequently increased from six to seven rounds, while the preliminary round was dropped. The tournament was played in 28 afternoon and evening sessions (an increase of six sessions over 2018) over the 20-day period with four rest days included for both Christmas and also New Year's Eve, with 95 matches played. Diogo Portela (born 12 June 1988) is a Brazilian professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and World Darts Federation (WDF) events. Career Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Portela first came into prominence in 2015 when he appeared on the Sky1 darts show '' One Hundred and Eighty'', where with the help of James Wade, he won £16,000. His first foray into professional darts was when he tried to win a PDC Tour Card in 2017, but while he failed to do so, he did some other firsts, such as becoming the first Brazilian to win a PDC European Tour match when he defeated Martin Schindler in the first round of the German Darts Championship.
