Selknam is a professional rugby union team based in Santiago, Chile. The team was founded in 2019 to compete in Súper Liga Americana de Rugby. History The franchise was founded in November 2019 as a Chilean member of the American Super League, a South American Rugby project to professionalize rugby on the continent and with financial support from World Rugby. Its name is a tribute to the Indigenous people of the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, originating in present-day Chile and Argentina. 1995 Rugby World Cup – Americas Qualification

The 1987 Rugby World Cup was the first Rugby World Cup. It was co-hosted by New Zealand and Australia – New Zealand hosted 21 matches (17 pool stage matches, two semi-finals, the third-place play-off and the final) while Australia hosted 11 matches (seven pool matches, two quarter-finals and both semi-finals). Super Rugby Americas (SRA) is a franchise rugby union tournament format in the Americas that began its first season in February 2023 after efforts by World Rugby. The Sudamérica Rugby Women's Sevens (formerly known as the CONSUR Women's Sevens), is the regional championship for women's international rugby sevens in South America. It has been contested since 2004. The tournament is held over two days, typically on a weekend. It is sanctioned and sponsored by Sudamérica Rugby. South American Junior Rugby Championship
The South American Junior Rugby Championship is an annual rugby union competition that features teams from South America. The tournament began in 1972 with Argentina as the host, which saw the locals win the title. It was not until 2008 that the first official Division B tournament was held, which was won by Brazil. In 2014, an addition competition was added, the CONSUR Cup, which was contested by Argentina and the top team of the A Division that year. In 1999, the minimum age permitted was changed from U18 to U19. Since 2004, the tournament champion (excluding Argentina) qualifies to the next year's World Rugby U20 Trophy, organised by the World Rugby. Americas Rugby Trophy
The Americas Rugby Trophy is an international women's rugby union competition sanctioned by World Rugby, and Sudamérica Rugby. It was contested by the top two South American nations, Colombia, and Brazil. Background Sudamérica Rugby, with funding from World Rugby, organised the first women's fifteens competition for the region. Brazil hosted the inaugural tournament from the 3rd to the 11th of June, 2023. Brazil, and Colombia competed with a development team from the United States. The meet was used as preparation for both South American teams for the third division of WXV in its first season. Sudamérica Rugby is focused on the development of women's fifteens within the region, although Brazil and Colombia are the only two teams that are able to compete internationally, more teams from the region are expected to join soon.
