Subodh Mitra
Subodh Mitra M.D., F.R.C.S., F.R.C.O.G. (1896–1961) was an Indian obstretrician and gynecologist. He is the founder of the "Mitra operation" for cervical cancer. Brief biography He was born on 1 November 1896 in Jessore (presently in Bangladesh). He graduated from the University of Calcutta in 1922. He saw the plight of female patients as an undergraduate and took up the Obstetrics and Gynecology as his career. Subodh Markandeya is a senior Indian lawyer, author and judicial activist. He primarily practices at the Supreme Court of India, but also appears in various high courts. He is a recipient of the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award. Subodh Roy (1915 – 26 August 2006) (also known as Jhunku Roy) was an Indian revolutionary socialist who was influential in the Indian independence movement, and a politician. Biography Subodh Roy was born in 1915 to a rich family at Chittagong in erstwhile-undivided Bengal. At the age of 14, he was the youngest participant in the Chittagong armoury raid in 1930-31 under the direction of the revolutionary leader Surya Sen (Masterda). Roy was in the first batch to be sentenced. After the trial, Subodh Roy was deported to the Cellular Jail in Port Blair in 1934. After his release from jail in 1940, he joined communist politics and became a member of the Communist Party of India. Subodh Banerjee (1918 – 16 September 1974) was an Indian politician, belonging to the Socialist Unity Centre of India. He introduced the '' Gherao'' principle as a formal mode of protest in the trade union sector of India while being the Labour Minister in the 1967 United Front Government in West Bengal. He was the PWD minister in the 1969 United Front Government of West Bengal. His lasting contribution was the removal of all statutes of "guardians and rulers" of the British Indian empire from public places in Kolkata.
