''Submit'' is a mini-album (and second major release overall) by the British band Pitch Shifter, released on 23 March 1992 by Earache on LP, cassette and CD. Background ''Submit'' was released in a few different configurations. On the tracklisting, five of the songs are labeled as alternate versions. With the exception of "New Flesh", none of ''Submit''s songs appeared on any of Pitchshifter's other studio albums. ''Submit'' was referred to as both an EP and as a mini-album. Its total running time ran over a half hour (although with the last song's silence removed, it totaled roughly a half hour). Pitchshifter (originally Pitch Shifter) are an English industrial metal band from Nottingham, formed in 1989. The band was started by lead guitarist and programmer Johnny A. Carter, and bassist and vocalist Mark Clayden. The band's early material was characterized for its gritty industrial metal sound with downtuned guitars and the use of drum machines, and has been cited as one of the originators of the genre along with Godflesh. With later albums the group's music became increasingly more melodic and strongly influenced by nu metal and drum and bass; particularly evident of their 1998 release '' www.pitchshifter.com'', which has been compared with groups like The Prodigy. Gramophone Record
A phonograph record (also known as a gramophone record, especially in British English) or a vinyl record (for later varieties only) is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove. An extended play (EP) is a Sound recording and reproduction, musical recording that contains more tracks than a Single (music), single but fewer than an album. Mini-album
A mini-LP or mini-album is a short record album or LP, usually retailing at a lower price than an album that would be considered full-length. It is distinct from an EP due to containing more tracks and a slightly longer running length. A mini-LP is not to be confused with the Japanese CDs issued in a " mini LP sleeve" or "paper jacket". Its running time is shorter than the typical album but longer than a single album. It is sometimes synonymous with extended play, especially in East Asia music market. However, some music distributors may classify mini albums with 7 or more songs as an album. In the United States, The Recording Academy's rules for Grammy Awards state that an album must comprise a minimum total playing time of 15 minutes with at least five distinct tracks or a minimum total playing time of 30 minutes with no minimum track requirement.
