Styx () is an American rock band formed in Chicago, Illinois Illinois ( ) is a U.S. state, state in the Midwestern United States, Midwestern United States. Lawrence Gowan
Lawrence Henry Gowan (born 22 November 1956) is a Scottish people, Scottish born Canadians, Canadian singer and keyboardist. Gowan is a solo artist and has also been vocalist and keyboardist of the band Styx (band), Styx since May 1999. His musical style is usually classified in the categories of pop and progressive rock. Early life Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he and his family immigrated to Canada where he was raised in the Toronto suburb of Scarborough, Ontario. Career At the age of 19, he earned an ARCT in classical piano performance from The Royal Conservatory of Music, in Toronto, Ontario. Upon graduation, he enjoyed modest local success with the band Rheingold in 1976. Dennis DeYoung (born February 18, 1947) is an American singer, songwriter and keyboardist. He was a founding member of the rock band Styx and served as its primary lead vocalist and keyboardist from 1972 until 1999. DeYoung was the band's most prolific and successful writer, having been credited as the writer of more Styx songs than any other band member. DeYoung penned seven of the band's eight ''Billboard'' top 10 singles as well as a solo top 10 single. John Curulewski
John J. Curulewski (October 3, 1950 – February 13, 1988) was an American musician who was one of the original members of Styx (band), Styx. Curulewski played guitar and sang occasional lead vocals on the band's first five studio albums, released from 1972 to 1975. He left in 1975 due to disputes between him and the band and died in 1988. Career In 1969, Curulewski joined the Chicago-based band TW4, featuring college friends Dennis DeYoung, Chuck Panozzo, and John Panozzo. The group evolved into Styx (band), Styx by 1972. William Eric Evankovich (born April 6, 1972) is an American singer/songwriter, guitarist and producer, best known for his performances with Styx, The Guess Who, and rock duo Shaw Blades (with Tommy Shaw from Styx and Jack Blades from Night Ranger), his co-production of Shaw's 2011 debut bluegrass album, '' The Great Divide'', and for producing and co-writing Styx's sixteenth studio album, '' The Mission'', and seventeenth studio album, '' Crash of the Crown''. Chuck Panozzo
Charles Salvatore "Chuck" Panozzo (born September 20, 1948) is an American musician best known as a co-founder of the rock band Styx. He is currently a part-time bass player in the band, sharing bass duties with Terry Gowan. Panozzo is living with HIV, which played a role in limiting his full-time participation. Early life and education Panozzo grew up in a working-class Italian Catholic neighborhood on the south side of Chicago, Illinois. At the age of 7, Panozzo and his fraternal twin brother, drummer John Panozzo, who died in July 1996, took music lessons from an uncle. He attended Catholic schools. Don Felder
Donald William Felder (born September 21, 1947) is an American musician who was the lead guitarist of the rock band Eagles from 1974 to 2001. He is known for co-writing several of the band's songs, most notably "Hotel California". Felder was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 with the Eagles, and was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2016. Bad English was an American/British hard rock supergroup formed in 1987. It reunited Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain with singer John Waite and bassist Ricky Phillips, his former bandmates in the Babys, along with Journey guitarist Neal Schon and drummer Deen Castronovo. The band is known for their hit single " When I See You Smile", which peaked at number 1 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in November 1989. Shaw Blades
Shaw Blades is an American musical duo/group formed by Tommy Shaw of Styx and Jack Blades of Night Ranger, both of whom played in the supergroup Damn Yankees. It is an informal duo which has produced two albums between other projects, 1995's ''Hallucination'' and 2007's ''Influence''. The first two songs on "Hallucination" -- "My Hallucination" and "I'll Always Be with You"—received modest airplay. "Influence" consisted solely of 1960s and 1970s cover songs that influenced them. Blades' son Colin, a songwriter himself, contributed backing vocals and arrangements to the album. Damn Yankees were an American rock band formed in New York City, in 1989. Consisting of singer/guitarist Tommy Shaw of Styx, singer/bassist Jack Blades of Night Ranger, guitarist Ted Nugent of the Amboy Dukes, and drummer Michael Cartellone (who would later join Lynyrd Skynyrd).
