Strictly Rhythm
Strictly Rhythm is an American house music record label. History The label was founded on May 1, 1989, by Gladys Pizarro and Mark Finkelstein, who were both working as A&R in a label called Spring Records. Working with house music artists from the beginning, during the 1990s the label had a string of hit releases by Roger Sanchez, Todd Terry, Masters at Work, Josh Wink, Armand Van Helden and Kenny Dope, amongst others. In 1994 ' I Like To Move It' by duo Reel 2 Reel became the first of many worldwide hits for the label. By the end of the decade Strictly Rhythm's influence and notoriety began to fade, finally folding in 2002. Strictly Rhythm relaunched in 2007 after a five-year break, following a venture with Warner Music. The label made a number of its recordings available for digital download and signed new productions from Quentin Harris, Osunlade, Chocolate Puma, Dennis Ferrer, Dirty South and Bob Sinclar. "I Like to Move It" is a song by American solo project Reel 2 Real ( Erick Morillo), featuring ragga vocals by Trinidad and Tobago rapper The Mad Stuntman (Mark Quashie). Released by Strictly Rhythm in October 1993 as the second single from the project's debut album, '' Move It!'' (1994), it appeared on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in 1994, peaking at number 89, and reached number five on the UK Singles Chart the same year. It was a number-one hit in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Zimbabwe. On the '' Billboard'' Dance Club Play chart, it peaked at number eight. Crystal Waters (born November 19, 1961) is an American house music, house and dance music singer and songwriter, best known for her 1990s dance hits "Gypsy Woman (Crystal Waters song), Gypsy Woman", "100% Pure Love", and 2007's "Destination Calabria" with Alex Gaudino. All three of her studio albums produced a Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Planet Soul was a house duo from Miami, Florida, composed of producer George Acosta and singer Nadine Renee. Biography They released one album in 1996, entitled ''Energy and Harmony'', and are primarily remembered as a one-hit wonder for their song " Set U Free", which peaked at number 26 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in early 1996. Nathaniel Pierre Jones, better known by his stage name DJ Pierre, is an American DJ and performer of house music based in Chicago. Musical career Phuture Jones has recorded Audio Clash, Darkman, Disco Fuhrer, DJ Pierre, DJ Pierre's Afro Acid Project, Doomsday, M & M, Nathaniel Pierre Jones, One Screaming Idiot, P-Ditty, Pfantasia, Photon Inc., Phugitive, Phuture Scope, Pierre's Pfantasy Club, Raving Lunatics, the Don, Time Warp, X Fade, and Yvette. Christophe Le Friant (; born 10 May 1969), better known by his stage name Bob Sinclar (), is a French record producer, DJ, and remixer. He is the owner of the record label Yellow Productions. Musical career A native of Paris, Le Friant began DJing in the 1980s under the name Chris the French Kiss. During this time he was more influenced by hip hop music, hip hop and jazz music and created music projects such as The Mighty Bop and Reminiscence Quartet, the latter with an ensemble of musicians and where Le Friant used the alias Desmond K. In 1998 Le Friant adopted name of Bob Sinclar after the titular character from the 1973 film ''Le Magnifique''. Dennis Ferrer (born December 26 1970) is a New York–based DJ, producer and remixer. He currently resides in Union City, New Jersey. A veteran of soulful house music production, he has worked with the likes of Masters at Work (MAW), Little Louie Vega, the Martinez Brothers and many other notable New York producers and DJs. Chocolate Puma are a DJ and music production duo from Haarlem, North Holland, consisting of René ter Horst ("DJ Zki") and Gaston Steenkist ("Dobre"). Their stage names include "Zki & Dobre", "The Good Men", and "Riva". Zki & Dobre have produced dance music under various group names since the early 1990s. Their most notable productions are " Give It Up" (1993) credited to The Good Men, " I Wanna Be U" (2001) credited to Chocolate Puma, and " Who Do You Love Now?" Osunlade (; born March 13, 1969) is an American musician and music producer. Biography Osunlade was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He composed music for ''Sesame Street'' during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Afterward, he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he worked with artists such as Patti LaBelle and Freddie Jackson. After a stint there, he moved to New York, where he founded Yoruba Records because of "the continued need to create the music I wanted".
