The Joint Support and Enabling Service (, , ''abbreviated:'' SKB, ; literally Armed Forces Foundation) is a branch of the German ''Bundeswehr'' established in October 2000 as a result of major reforms of the ''Bundeswehr''. It handles various logistic and organisational tasks of the ''Bundeswehr''. The SKB is one of six components of the ''Bundeswehr'', the other five being the Army, Navy, Air Force, the Joint Medical Service, and the Cyber and Information Domain Service. As of April 2020, the force is composed of 27,840 personnel. In May 2021 the minister of defense Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer together with inspector general Eberhard Zorn published a plan to dissolve the Joint Support and Enabling Service and to reintegrate its units into the army, navy, airforce and cyber command. The Joint Support Service Command () is the high command of the Joint Support Service (Germany), Joint Support Service of the Germany, German armed forces, the Bundeswehr. Wolfram Kühn
Wolfram Kühn (born 7 November 1952) is a retired German Navy vice admiral. He served as Deputy Inspector General of the Bundeswehr and Inspector of the Joint Support Service from 2006 to his retirement in 2012. Military career Kühn entered the Bundeswehr in 1972. After basic naval officer training, he studied Economics and Business Administration at the Bundeswehr University of Munich. After graduating in 1977 he served on the Destroyer Schleswig-Holstein as a CIC officer. In 1979 he was promoted to ''Kapitänleutnant'' (captain lieutenant) and assigned to the Territorial Command of Schleswig-Holstein as Adjutant of the commander, who was also the highest German responsible within NATO's Allied Forces Northern Europe (AFNORTH). Manfred Nielson (born February 25, 1955) is a retired admiral of the German Navy who last served as Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Transformation in Norfolk, Virginia. Career Education and first assignments After finishing his A-levels in 1973, Nielson entered the West German navy as reserve officer candidate. From 1974 to 1975 he served as Watch officer on the coastal minesweeper Koblenz and Wetzlar with the 6th minesweeping squadron in Wilhelmshaven. Beginning in 1975 he studied economics at the Helmut Schmidt University of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg and graduated in 1978 with a master's degree. The Operational Command of the Bundeswehr (Einsatzführungskommando der Bundeswehr) (EinsFüKdoBw) in Schwielowsee (district Geltow) near Potsdam was a Bundeswehr headquarters responsible for operational missions that was directly subordinate to the Federal Ministry of Defence, and has been directly subordinate to the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr (armed forces chief) from April 1, 2012 to March 30, 2025. The Cyber and Information Domain Service (CIDS; (lit. ''Cyber and Information space)'', ; CIR) is the youngest branch of the German Armed Forces, the Bundeswehr.
