Street is a rural unincorporated community in northern Harford County, Maryland, United States. One of the central villages in Street is Highland. The village had a station stop on the Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad, at milepost 38.6, which served farms within the area until it ceased passenger service in 1954, then terminated freight service in 1958. The post office for Street, Maryland is located in the village of Highland. The village was once home to Highland High School, which later became Highland Elementary School. Highland Elementary School was shut down when the North Harford Elementary School was opened. The large building has other community purposes now, including the alternative Highlands School, Mason-Dixon Community Service, Highland Senior Center and the Street post office. Habonim Dror (, "the builders–freedom") is a Jewish Labor Zionist youth movement formed in 1982 through the merger of two earlier movements: Habonim and Dror. Habonim (, "the builders") was established in 1929 in the United Kingdom and later expanded to other English-speaking countries. While each national branch developed independently, they maintained a shared ideology centered on Jewish and Labor Zionist cultural values. Gladden Farm
Gladden Farm, also known as Gladden-Roming Stone House, is a historic home and farm complex located in Street, Maryland. The complex includes three historically-significant structures: a large five-bay rubblestone bank house with Federal detailing, a one-story rubblestone spring house, and a one-story board-and-batten frame shop. The first two structures were built around 1820, the latter from the mid-19th century. Some interior details were installed around 1945 from a demolished house on Franklin Street in Baltimore, including a mantel, built-in cabinets, and bookcases. The main room's north wall is paneled with English oak removed from another demolished Baltimore dwelling. The Mill Green Historic District is a National Register of Historic Places listed community located in Harford County, Maryland. The district consists of a small cluster of privately owned historic homes and buildings including a historic mill. The district is located at the junction of Mill Green Road and Prospect Road. Broad Creek flows through the district. The historic district designation was established in 1993. History Before the Revolutionary War, around 1770, William Ashmore built a house and mill in the area, which was inherited by his son John Ashmore in 1798. At that time, he owned 1,208 acres and five slaves. The area was initially known as Ashmore's Mill. The mill generated wheat flour, which was generally sold in Baltimore.
