Straumen, Trøndelag
Straumen is the administrative centre of Inderøy Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located along the Trondheimsfjord at the northeastern side of the Inderøya peninsula, next to the Børgin fjord. The village lies about east of the village of Sakshaug and about west of the villages of Røra and Hylla. The village has a slaughterhouse, a folk high school, and a museum. The Sakshaug Church and the historic Old Sakshaug Church lie just west of Straumen. The village has a population (2024) of 1,900 and a population density of . Inderøya
Inderøya is a peninsula in the Trondheimsfjord in Trøndelag county, Norway. The peninsula constitutes part of Inderøy Municipality (which is named after the peninsula). The peninsula borders the Beitstadfjorden to the north, the Børgin fjord to the east, the Skarnsundet strait to the west, and the Trondheimsfjord to the south. Old Sakshaug Church
Old Sakshaug Church () is a preserved, former parish church of the Church of Norway in Inderøy Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Sakshaug, just west of the municipal centre of Straumen. It is the former main church for the Inderøy parish which is part of the Stiklestad prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The stone church was built in a long church style around the year 1184 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 200 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1433, but the church was not built that year. The stone church was likely constructed over a period of time stretching from about 1150 to 1180. The medieval church is one of the oldest churches in Trøndelag. Sakshaug Church
Sakshaug Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Inderøy Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Sakshaug, just west of the municipal centre of Straumen. It is the main church for the Inderøy parish which is part of the Stiklestad prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The large, stone church was built in a Neo-Gothic long church style in 1871 using plans drawn up by the architect Håkon Mosling (1840-1914). The church seats about 850 people. History The church was built to replace the medieval Old Sakshaug Church located about to the northwest of the new church. An increase in the population in the parish and the requirements of the Church Act of 1851 led to the building of the new church. The Church Act required that church buildings have room to hold 30% of the people living in the parish. This meant that the church was too small. Folk High School
Folk high schools (also ''adult education center'') are institutions for adult education that generally do not grant academic degrees, though certain courses might exist leading to that goal. Røra
Røra is a village in Inderøy Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located on a small peninsula between the Trondheimsfjorden and the Børgin fjord. The village is located about north of the town of Verdalsøra and about south of the town of Steinkjer. The village of Hylla lies just south of Røra and the municipal centre of Straumen lies a short distance to the west. The European route E6 highway and the Nordlandsbanen railway line both run through the village, with the train stopping at Røra Station. Børgin
Børgin is a fjord branch in the eastern part of Trondheimsfjorden in Steinkjer Municipality and Inderøy Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The long fjord is about wide, although the mouth of the fjord is only wide. The mouth of the fjord is by the village of Straumen and there is a bridge across the fjord at its narrowest point.
