Strathblane Football Club was a Scottish football club located in Strathblane, Stirlingshire. History The club was founded in 1877 and its earliest recorded fixture was against the 10th D.R.V. in December 1877. Strathblane was one of the first six senior clubs to be founded in Stirlingshire. It was a regular entrant to the Scottish Cup from 1878–79 for 7 seasons. Its first match in the competition was its biggest win, by 8 goals (plus one disputed) to 1 over Bonnybridge Grasshoppers. Its best run came in 1879–80. The club beat Lenzie 1–0 in the first round, Falkirk by the same score in a "very pleasant and enjoyable game" in the second, and Campsie Glen in the third, to become the "champion club of Stirlingshire" and be the county's representative in the national stage, consisting of 22 clubs. The 1882–83 Scottish Cup – officially the Scottish Football Association Challenge Cup – was the tenth season of Scotland's most prestigious Association football, football knockout competition. Dumbarton F.C., Dumbarton won the cup for the first, and so far only, time when they beat Vale of Leven F.C., Vale of Leven 2–1 in a replayed final. Blanefield Railway Station
Blanefield is a settlement in Scotland contiguous with Strathblane's northwestern fringe. To the west is the volcanic plug Dumgoyne, Glengoyne Distillery and the Trossachs National Park. The West Highland Way—a long-distance trail—passes close to the village. The Blane Water (''Uisge Bhlàthain'') has also been referred to as ''Beul-abhainn'' () meaning "mouth-river" after the numerous burns merging. One of its tributaries, the Ballagan Burn passes over the waterfall the Spout of Ballagan which shows 192 alternate strata of coloured shales and limestone (including pure alabaster). The 1883–84 Scottish Cup – officially the Scottish Football Association Challenge Cup – was the 11th season of Scotland's most prestigious Association football, football knockout competition. Stenhousemuir F
Stenhousemuir (; ) is a town in the Central Lowlands of Scotland. It lies within the Falkirk council area of Scotland. The town is north-northwest of Falkirk and directly adjoins to Larbert in the west, where the nearest rail access is located. The villages of Carron and Carronshore adjoin Stenhousemuir to the east but to a lesser extent. Historically, Stenhousemuir lies with the historic county of Stirlingshire. At the 2001 census it showed that it had a resident population of 10,351 but according to a 2009 estimate this was revised to around 10,190 residents. The combined population of the four localities in 2011 was 24,722, representing about 15% of the Falkirk council area total.
