Storžič Lodge
The Storžič Lodge (; ) is a mountain hut, mountain hostel in the upper part of the Lomščica Valley, near the Jesenje Pasture in northwestern Slovenia. The first lodge was built in 1938 and was called the Verbič Lodge (); it caught fire one year later. It burned in 1941 when German forces attacked the Storžič Battalion. The current brown shingled hut was built in 1951. Mountain Hut
A mountain hut is a building located at high elevation, in mountainous terrain, generally accessible only by foot, intended to provide food and shelter to mountaineering, mountaineers, climbing, climbers and Hiking, hikers. Mountain huts are usually operated by an Alpine Club or some organization dedicated to hiking or mountain recreation. They are known by many names, including alpine hut, mountain shelter, mountain refuge, mountain lodge, and mountain hostel. It may also be called a refuge hut, although these occur in lowland areas (e.g. lowland forests) too. Mountain huts can provide a range of services, starting with shelter and simple sleeping berths. Tržič
Tržič (; ) is a List of cities and towns in Slovenia, town in northern Slovenia, close to the Austrian border. It is the seat of the Municipality of Tržič. Geography The town is located within the historic Upper Carniola region on the Tržič Bistrica River, a left tributary of the Sava. Spodnje Jezersko
Spodnje Jezersko (; literally, 'Lower Jezersko') is a settlement in the Municipality of Jezersko in Slovenia. Slovenian Mountain Hiking Trail
The Slovenian Mountain Hiking Trail (), sometimes also called Transverzala (Long-Distance Trail), is a route from Maribor to Ankaran. It covers most of the Slovenian mountain areas including Pohorje, the Julian Alps, the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, the Karawanks, and the southwestern part of Slovenia. History The idea of connecting the most beautiful, hilly, and mountainous area in Slovenia came from Ivan Šumljak in 1950. Originally, the trail was meant to be a circular route, which would start and end in Maribor. It was later changed to include Postojna and other areas towards the sea. It mostly included existing hiking trails. However, in some shorter parts it was necessary to make new demarcations to connect them. The trail opened on August 1, 1953, with 80 control points. Storžič
Storžič (; ) is the highest mountain in the western part of the Kamnik–Savinja Alps. The top is a nicely shaped cone (), from which the mountain got its name. Storžič has a good panoramic view. To the south are the Ljubljana Basin, Mount Krim, the Javornik Hills, Mount Snežnik, the Nanos Plateau, and the Škofja Loka Hills. To the west are the Julian Alps with prominent Mount Triglav. Kamnik–Savinja Alps
The Kamnik–Savinja Alps () are a mountain range of the Southern Limestone Alps. They lie in northern Slovenia, except for the northernmost part, which lies in Austria. The western part of the range was named the Kamnik Alps () in 1778 by the scientists Belsazar Hacquet and Franz Xaver von Wulfen, after the town of Kamnik (''Stein'') in the valley of the Kamnik Bistrica River.
