Steve McCarthy (30 July 1962 – 30 June 2017) was a British former Boxing, boxer who had been British light heavyweight champion in 1990. Career Southampton local McCarthy began his professional career in February 1987 with a win over Russell Burnett. He was unbeaten in his first 10 fights, which included a win over Serg Fame in November 1988 to take the BBBofC Southern Area light heavyweight title at Applemore Recreation Centre, and a points victory over former Belgian Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight championYves Monsieur. Steve McCarthy (born February 3, 1981) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. McCarthy played in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Blackhawks, Vancouver Canucks and the Atlanta Thrashers. He is currently an assistant coach for the Columbus Blue Jackets since the 2021-2022 NHL season. Playing career McCarthy was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks with the twenty-third pick in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. He made his debut in the 1999–2000 NHL season and he recorded an assist on his first shift. After playing 134 games with the Blackhawks, he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks on August 22, 2005 in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Stephen Michael McCarthy (born July 21, 1988) is a former American soccer player who previously played for San Antonio FC. Career Youth and college McCarthy played youth soccer with the Dallas Texans 88'. Former teammates include Andre Akpan, Ross LaBauex, Jonathan Villanueva and Omar Gonzalez. This team also won three National Championships along with being the only American team to win the Dallas Cup Super Group. During that year both Manchester United and Real Madrid took part in the international tournament. McCarthy attended Nolan Catholic High School in Fort Worth, Texas.
