Stegesund-Hästholmen
Stegesund-Hästholmen is an island, sometimes considered a pair of islands, in the Stockholm archipelago in Sweden. Stegesund-Hästholmen is situated in Vaxholm Municipality and Stockholm County. Hästholmen (to the west) and Stegesund (to the east) are separated by an artificial channel, constructed in 1899, and connected by a bridge. The island has a permanent population of about 20 people. To the north, west and south, Stegesund-Hästholmen is separated from the islands of Resarö, Edholma and Vaxön by the winding northern section of the Kodjupet strait, whilst to the east it is separated from the island of Skarpö by the much narrower Stegesundet strait. The artificial channel between Stegesund and Hästholmen is only navigable by very small boats, such as dinghies and canoes. Kodjupet
Kodjupet is a strait in Sweden's Stockholm Archipelago. Along with the , it is one of two shipping routes connecting the open sea to the city of Stockholm, passing either side of the island of Rindö. Today the Kodjupet is suitable only for smaller vessels, due to its narrow and twisting nature together with a minimum water depth of , but it was formerly the principal route for commercial and naval ships. It passes close offshore of the town of Vaxholm. Although winding in nature, the strait runs broadly from north to south on its route from the sea to the city. It is flanked by the islands of Resarö, Edholma and Vaxön to the west, and Stegesund-Hästholmen, Skarpö and Rindö to the east. Stegesundet is a very narrow strait in Sweden's Stockholm Archipelago. Vaxholm Municipality
Vaxholm Municipality (, semi-officially ) is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden. The municipal slogan is "Vaxholm – the capital of the archipelago", due to its central location in the archipelago. Its seat is located in the city of Vaxholm. From 1974 to 1984 Vaxholm was united with Österåker Municipality, making up a municipality called Vaxholm, but with the seat in Åkersberga. After the "divorce" the new Vaxholm Municipality came out larger than it had been before the amalgamation. The municipality prefers to style itself ''City of Vaxholm''. Skarpö
Skarpö is an island in the Stockholm archipelago in Sweden. It is situated in Vaxholm Municipality and Stockholm County. The southern and western half of the island comprises the Skarpö urban area. A road bridge and local road connects Skarpö to on the adjoining island of Rindö to the south. Rindö is in turn connected to Vaxholm town by the at its western end, and to Värmdö island by the at its eastern end. Vaxön
Vaxön is an island in the Stockholm archipelago in Sweden. It is situated in Vaxholm Municipality and Stockholm County. Until 2020, the urban area of Vaxholm, as defined by Statistics Sweden, was entirely contained within the island of Vaxön. However in that year, the adjacent island of Kullö was redefined as part of the urban area. Vaxön is linked to the Swedish mainland by a series of road bridges, and the car ferry connects Vaxön to the island of Rindö across the Kodjupet strait. Vaxholm
Vaxholm is a city, urban area and the seat of Vaxholm Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden. It occupies the islands of Vaxön and Kullö in the Stockholm archipelago. Waxholms Ångfartygs AB, commonly referred to as Waxholmsbolaget, is a shipping company owned by Stockholm county council and is responsible for the seaborne public transport in the Stockholm archipelago and Stockholm harbour. The company, which is mostly tax-funded, carried about 4.3 million travellers in 2003, covering a region from Arholma in north of the archipelago to Landsort in the south.
