Steel Dragon 2000
is a steel roller coaster located at Nagashima Spa Land amusement park in Mie Prefecture, Japan. Built by D. H. Morgan Manufacturing, Steel Dragon 2000 opened to the public on 1 August 2000. Its name derives from Chinese astrology and zodiac calendars in which the year 2000 represented the dragon. It broke several world records upon its debut, becoming the longest roller coaster in the world with a track length of , as well as the tallest and fastest complete-circuit coaster. Although its height and speed records have been broken since its debut, it remains the longest coaster in the world. With a maximum speed of , it is tied with Fury 325 for being the fastest coaster featuring a lift hill. Out And Back Roller Coaster
Out and back refers to the layout of a roller coaster. An out and back coaster is one that climbs a lift hill soon after leaving the station, races out to the far end of the track after the initial drop, performs a 180 degree turn and then returns to the station. Some out and back coasters perform more complicated turns at the far end of the track. This particular design is very popular and is easy to design and construct. With an out and back design, the hills on the way "out" usually are quite large and gradually decrease in size. The hills on the way "back" are usually "bunny hops", or small hills created to maximize air-time. Design variants The simplest out-and-back layout resembles a flattened oval when viewed from above. , formerly known as , was a steel roller coaster located at Fuji-Q Highland in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi, Japan. Manufactured by S&S – Sansei Technologies, the launched coaster used compressed air to propel its trains. It opened on 21 December 2001 as the fastest roller coaster in the world with the fastest acceleration, reaching a top speed of in 1.8 seconds. The ride was refurbished in 2017, removing its top hat element in favor of a vertical loop, as well as increasing its speed and acceleration to in 1.56 seconds. Red Force is a steel launched giga roller coaster located at Ferrari Land within PortAventura World in Salou, Catalonia, Spain.
