Steaua București Hockey
Steaua Rangers are a Romanian professional ice hockey club that currently plays in the Romanian Hockey League. They play their home games at the Berceni Arena and sometimes at the Allianz-Țiriac Arena in Otopeni. History The hockey team was founded in 1951 as CCA București and existed alongside other sections (e.g., football, handball, basketball) in the Steaua București sports club. In 1961, their name was changed to CSA Steaua București. With 40 championship titles and 31 cup victories, Steaua is the most successful ice hockey team in Romania. They last won the Championship in 2006, and the Cup in 2008. In 2008, Steaua joined the MOL Liga along with CS Progym Gheorgheni in addition to the Romanian Hockey League. They finished in sixth place out of ten participants. Steaua did not return to the league in 2009-10, due to financial issues. Dezső Varga
Dezideriu "Dezső" Varga (born 14 May 1939) is a Romanian former ice hockey player. As a defenceman, he led his hometown Miercurea Ciuc to two Romanian Hockey League titles. He transferred to the Steaua Rangers in 1965, where he won nine national titles and seven Romanian Hockey League championships. He played for the Romania men's national team from 1959 to 1977, and served as the team captain from 1969 onward. He was the only Romanian to play in three Winter Olympic Games tournaments, and participated in 17 Ice Hockey World Championships. He led Romania to a seventh-place finish at the 1976 Winter Olympics, and the team's only appearance in the top tier of the World Championships in 1977. He received the Torriani Award from the International Ice Hockey Federation in 2024, in recognition of career accomplishments by players from smaller hockey nations. Cam Severson (born August 15, 1978) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre who played parts of three seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Columbus Blue Jackets. Playing career Severson was drafted in the eighth round, 192nd overall, by the San Jose Sharks in the 1997 NHL entry draft. After playing five full seasons in the Western Hockey League and part of a sixth, Severson joined the Central Hockey League's Oklahoma City Blazers during the 1998–99 season. Adam Krug
Adam Krug is an American ice hockey coach and former player who was the NCAA Division III coach of the year in 2022. Career Krug's college career began at Wayne State in 2004. After leading the team in scoring as a sophomore, rumors began to circulate about financial troubles with the program. Krug transferred to Adrian College, a small school in southern Michigan, who were set to begin playing varsity ice hockey in 2007. He debuted for the Division III team that year and went on to lead the Bulldogs in scoring, averaging more than 2 points a game. His exploits helped the club win their conference title, however, because the MCHA did not have an automatic bid at the time the Bulldogs weren't invited to play in the NCAA tournament. Mihai Flamaropol
Mihai Flamaropol (9 April 1919 – 30 June 1985) was a Romanian footballer, ice hockey player and coach and a writer. Flamaropol started playing football at Gloria București when he was 12 years old and at 17 he started to play ice hockey at Telefon Club București. He competed in both sports until he retired from football at age 35, but continued to play ice hockey until he was 40 years old. The Mihai Flamaropol Skating Rink in București is named in his honor.
