Statutes Of Canada
The ''Statutes of Canada'' (SC) compiles, by year, all the laws passed by the Parliament of Canada since Confederation in 1867. They are organized by alphabetical order and are updated and amended by the Government of Canada from time to time. The Revised Statutes of Canada (RSC) consolidates current federal laws in force, incorporating amendments into acts, adding new substantive acts enacted since the last revision and deleting rescinded acts. Publication of statutes At the time that the ''Interpretation Act'' (1867) was passed, the ''Statutes of Canada'' were required to be distributed and published at the end of each session of parliament. This was changed in 1984, with the volumes of the ''Statutes of Canada'' being required to be distributed and published at the end of each calendar year. The Parliament of Canada () is the Canadian federalism, federal legislature of Canada. The Monarchy of Canada, Crown, along with two chambers: the Senate of Canada, Senate and the House of Commons of Canada, House of Commons, form the Bicameralism, bicameral legislature. The ''Canada Gazette'' () is the official government gazette of the Government of Canada. It was first published on October 2, 1841. While it originally published all acts of the Parliament of Canada, it later also published treaties, hearing and tribunals, proclamations and regulations, and various other official notices as required. At one time it contained information on bankruptcies. It has been administered by Public Works and Government Services Canada and the King's Printer for Canada since 1841. The ''Gazette'' is most often read to find new acts, regulations and proclamations. Legal status While not always widely read by the public, publication in the ''Gazette'' is considered official notice to all Canadians. After a regulation has been approved by the Privy Council Office and then the Cabinet of Canada, the regulation is published in the ''Gazette''.
