Starmania (album)
''Starmania'' is the cast album performed by the original cast members from the 1978 cyberpunk rock opera ''Starmania'', with music by Michel Berger and lyrics by Luc Plamondon. Originally, it was released on vinyl and cassette in 1978. In 1991, ''Starmania'' was issued on a CD with "SOS d'un terrien en détresse" performed by Daniel Balavoine replacing "Starmania (l'air de l'extraterrestre)". Starmania (musical)
''Starmania'' is a Canadian- French rock opera written in 1976 with music by Michel Berger and book and lyrics by Luc Plamondon. It debuted in 1978 with a studio recording of the songs, before premiering on stage in 1979. An English-language studio version was also produced in 1992, with lyrics by Sir Tim Rice. Several stage revivals have been produced in France, Quebec and Germany, each with their distinctive styles. Several of its songs have passed into mainstream Francophone pop culture, and helped original cast members Daniel Balavoine and Diane Dufresne to rise in popularity in France; it is now considered the most famous rock opera in French history. Fabienne Thibeault
Fabienne Thibeault (born 16 June 1952 in Montreal, Quebec) is a French Canadian singer. She is particularly known for her role in Starmania. Thibeault has released numerous albums over her career. She has been the recipient of two Félix Awards. History She began her singing career at 21, placing third at the Festival international de la chanson de Granby in 1972. In 1973 she won the same competition. She then went on to touring and singing with other better known Quebec artists, including Plume Latraverse and Sylvain Lelièvre. She released her first album ''De laine et de bois'' (Of Wool and Wood) in 1976. By 1972, she had caught the attention of producer Luc Plamondon. He asked Thibeault to join the cast of '' Starmania'', which he had written with Michel Berger, in the role of Marie-Jeanne. Thibeault toured with the show in Quebec and Europe, then on her own. The European Top 100 Albums chart was the European adaptation of the ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart. It ran from March 1984 until December 2010. Also commonly referred to as Eurochart Top 100 Albums, the chart showcased the sales of an act in 19 European countries based on IFPI data. It was compiled by ''Music & Media''. ''Billboard'' became ''Music & Media's'' financial partner in 1985 and later owned the magazine. When ''Music & Media'' closed in August 2003, ''Billboard'' continued to compile the European Top 100 Albums. The European Top 100 combined album sales (both retail and digital) of new and older albums. The methodology was different from the US ''Billboard'' 200, where albums would only be allowed to chart if they weren't 18 months old. Diane Dufresne, (; born 30 September 1944) is a French Canadian singer and painter, and is known for singing a large repertoire of popular Quebec songs. Dufresne was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She lived in Paris from 1965 to 1967 where she studied voice with Jean Lumière and dramatic art with Françoise Rosay. While there, she performed in noted such as , , and . On her return to Montreal, she began a collaboration with composer , and lyricist Luc Plamondon. Éric Estève (born 14 July 1951) is a French author, composer and singer. Originally discovered by Véronique Sanson (Stephen Stills' former wife) at the age of 17, Estève recorded on Epic. Veronique offered Éric the first part of her show and used him as a background vocalist in her own show as well as on the albums ''Live At the Olympia 1976'', ''Hollywood'' and ''7e''.
