Stadion Oosterpark
Oosterpark Stadion () was the stadium of football club FC Groningen until December 2005. The all-seater stadium in Groningen's Oosterpark neighbourhood was inaugurated on 30 September 1933 and renovated in 1960, 1984 and 1987/88. The stadium has been replaced by the new, larger Euroborg stadium, and the ground it occupied is being redeveloped. The stadium's peak capacity was 22,000 spectators (in 1985). At the time of the demolition, the capacity was 11,224. Clubs that played in the stadium earlier are BRC, GVAV Rapiditas and De Oosterparkers. The best visited game ever was FC Groningen - Servette FC with 19,500 spectators. On 22 December 2005, the last match of FC Groningen in the stadium took place, the KNVB Beker match against FC Volendam. The supporters made a very last trip from the Grote Markt in Groningen with torches and fireworks. Groningen ( , ; ; ; ) is the northeasternmost provinces of the Netherlands, province of the Netherlands. Hugo Hovenkamp
Hugo Hermanus Hovenkamp (born 5 October 1950) is a Dutch former professional footballer, who played as a left-back. Most notably, he played for Eredivisie club AZ '67 in the late 1970s and early 1980s, where he won the 1980–81 championship, as well as three KNVB Cups. Hovenkamp made his international debut for Netherlands in a 2:0 win in February 1977 against England. Hovenkamp was forced to withdraw from the 1978 World Cup squad due to injury, but as the deadline for calling up replacement players had passed, the Netherlands were unable to replace him. He did play in the 1980 European Championships, and played his final international (a 1–0 loss to Spain) in a qualifier for the 1984 European Championship. He obtained 31 caps, scoring 2 goals. The 1984 UEFA European Football Championship final tournament was held in France from 12 to 27 June 1984. It was the seventh UEFA European Championship, a competition held every four years and endorsed by UEFA. At the time, only eight countries took part in the final stage of the tournament, seven of which had to come through the qualifying stage. Dirk Jacobus Willem "Dick" Nanninga (17 January 1949 – 21 July 2015) was a Dutch footballer who played as a forward. At club level, he played for Dutch sides BV Veendam, Roda JC and MVV Maastricht. He also had a short spell with Hong Kong club Seiko. At international level, he represented the Netherlands at the 1978 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 1980. Career Nanninga earned 15 caps and scored 6 goals for the Netherlands national football team. In the 1978 FIFA World Cup final against Argentina in Buenos Aires, he scored the equalizing goal in normal time, but Argentina went on to win 3–1 in extra time.
