Sri Lanka Police Service
Sri Lanka Police (; ) is the civilian national police force of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. The police force is responsible for enforcing criminal and traffic law, enhancing public safety, maintaining order and keeping the peace throughout Sri Lanka. The police force consists of 43 Territorial Divisions, 67 Functional Divisions, 607 Police Stations with more than 84,000 people. The professional head of the police is the Inspector General of Police who reports to the Minister of Law and Order as well as the National Police Commission. The last Inspector General of Police was Deshabandu Tennakoon. The Sri Lankan rupee (, ; Currency symbol, symbol: ₨ in English, රු in Sinhala, ௹ in Tamil; ISO 4217, ISO code: LKR), known until 1972 as the Ceylon rupee, is the currency of Sri Lanka. Yamaha XT250
The Yamaha XT250 is a motorcycle made by Yamaha Motor Company. First generation Released in 1980, this dual-sport motorcycle has been a staple of back roads and farms. Deshabandu Tennakoon
Tennakoon Mudiyanselage Wanshalankara Deshabandu Tennakoon (born 7 March 1971), known as Deshabandu Tennakoon (), is a controversial Sri Lankan police officer. He was the first de facto Inspector General of the Sri Lankan Police. The Supreme Court suspended him on 24 July 2024. In March 2025 Tennakoon was reported to have gone missing after the magistrate's court ordered him to be arrested. Early years and career Deshabandu Tennakoon was born in 1971 and received his school education at Nalanda College, Colombo. Later, after graduating from University of Colombo with a bachelor’s degree he joined the Sri Lanka Police service in 1998, beginning his career as an apprentice Assistant Superintendent of Police.
