2010 Commonwealth Games
The 2010 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XIX Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Delhi 2010, were an international multi-sport event for the members of the Commonwealth that was held in Delhi, India, from 3 to 14 October 2010. A total of 4352 athletes from 71 Commonwealth nations and dependencies competed in 21 sports and 272 events, making it the largest Commonwealth Games to date. It was also the largest international multi-sport event to be staged in Delhi and India, eclipsing the Asian Games in 1951 and 1982. The opening and closing ceremonies were held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the main stadium of the event. It was the first time that the Commonwealth Games were held in India and the second time they were held in Asia after Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1998. David Troy Palmer (born 28 June 1976 in Lithgow, New South Wales) is an Australian retired professional squash player. He won the Super Series finals in 2002, the World Open in 2002 and 2006; the British Open in 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2008; and the Australian Open in 2008. He attained World No. 1 ranking in September 2001 and again (for one month) in February 2006. Jaclyn Hawkes (born 3 December 1982 in Hong Kong) is a New Zealand professional squash (sport), squash player. Hawkes grew up in Hong Kong and lived there until she was 15 when she moved to New Zealand. She started playing squash aged five because her mother Julie Hawkes was a New Zealand representative and is an ex-World Masters champion. While Hawkes played squash when she was younger she was much more keen on playing tennis (her father Richard Hawkes (tennis), Richard was a Davis Cup player for New Zealand), hockey and netball. Ong Beng Hee (; born 4 February 1980) is a Malaysian former professional squash player and coach. Between 2000 and 2006, he won four consecutive Asian Championship titles. Dr Harry Leitch (born 14 February 1985, in Edinburgh, Scotland) is a stem cell biologist and a Scottish international squash player. Squash career Having trained at the Heriot-Watt Squash Academy and the East of Scotland Institute of Sport, Leitch became Scotland's number one junior in 2002. He made his debut for the Scottish senior team in 2003 and has since made over 60 international appearances.
