''Sport-Express'' () is a Russian daily sports newspaper founded by Vladimir Kuchmiy. Printed in 31 cities of Russia, Latvia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and the United States, it is the biggest-selling sports newspaper in Russia, with the daily audience of over 700,000 people. ''Sport-Express'' was founded in 1991. It is a part of the European Sports Media. Aksel Tatevosovich Vartanyan (; born January 8, 1938) is a Soviet and Russian journalist, sports historian and native of Tbilisi. Vartanyan graduated from the Historical-Philological Department of Tbilisi Pedagogical Institute. Since 1962 he has worked full-time as a school teacher. Vartanyan is famous as journalist for the ''Football'' weekly and the newspaper ''Sport Express'', researcher of archives and other written stock-piles that accumulated since the inception of domestic club football. Rovshan Enver ogly Askerov (, ; born May 4, 1972) is an Azerbaijani journalist, a participant in the television game '' What? Where? When?'' as well as a former sports columnist for the ''Sport-Express'' newspaper. Biography Askerov was born on May 4, 1972, in Baku in the family of the artist Enver Askerov. He graduated from Baku State University’s Faculty of History in 1994 as a candidate of historical sciences. Askerov first appeared on the game show '' What? Where? When?'' on November 28, 1998, going on to become the 2001 Winter Series MVP. He is considered one of the most scandalous and odious players in the history of the TV show. From 2001 to 2007, Askerov worked as a columnist for the ''Sport-Express'' newspaper, covering competitions in cross-country skiing, fencing, cycling, rhythmic and artistic gymnastics, and other sports. Igor Yakovlevich Rabiner (; born 13 February 1973 in Moscow) is a Russian association football, football journalist and writer known for his work with Sport-Express and his books, most notably his controversial bestseller ''How Spartak Was Being Killed'' (), where he describes the crisis FC Spartak Moscow faced in the early 2000s, at the end of Oleg Romantsev's reign and immediately after it. Later, that book was followed by its sequel, ''How Spartak Was Being Killed 2'' about the later events, and ''Lokomotiv We Have Lost'' («Локомотив», который мы потеряли) that exploits similar themes regarding another popular Russian football team, FC Lokomotiv Moscow, Lokomotiv Moscow. Alexey Lvovich Popov (; July 13, 1974 in Moscow) is a Russian journalist and TV commentator best known as a commentator on Formula 1 racing. Biography The first Formula 1 race Popov witnessed was in 1988 in Belgium: his grandfather worked there in the Trade Mission of the USSR. He started his journalist career in 1991 in the age of 17 for the newspaper ''Sport Express''. As he later confessed, he was dissatisfied with quality of Formula 1 coverage in the Soviet media, and he decided to contact Sport Express editors if he could offer any help. To his surprise, he was appointed as an editor himself.
